Their love never died, but her secrets could break his trust beyond repair.
Texas Montgomery Mavericks, Book 1
After six years and too much self-recrimination, rancher Mitch Landry is ready to admit he was wrong. He’d loved Olivia Montgomery but commitment wasn’t high on his list back then. That was his first mistake. He’s just divorced his second, and he’s set to do whatever it takes to convince Olivia to give him another try.
Through hard work, determination and more than a few tears, Olivia survived the break-up with Mitch. She’s rebuilt her life around her business and the son she loves more than life itself. She’s not proud of the mistakes she’s made—particularly the secrets she’s kept—but when life hands you manure, you use it to make something better of yourself…lest you get stuck in it.
At a hot, muggy Dallas wedding, they reconnect. Olivia’s first instinct is to play it cool, but after one devastating kiss things flare real out of control, real fast. Maybe a quick roll in the hay will get him out of her system once and for all. Funny thing about hay though, once it’s tangled in your hair, getting it out risks revealing things that were never meant to see the light of day.
Warning: Contains hot sex, a vindictive ex-wife, and hot chocolate chip cookies.

Very well written romance for a first time author. Enjoed the byplay between Mitch and Olivia and how it allows the reader to understand all of the characters, including Adam. Gave just enough of everything without being too much of one thing. I laughed. I got angry. I cried. Most of all I recommend this book.

Mitch is not romantic material. Olivia can't just ask a question? Such as why is Mitch sleeping with me but planning to marry someone else and get custody of Adam? Does anyine in the REAL world think custody hearings wouldn't hear that nasty little piece of information about the father? And Mitch waiting THREE months before straightening out the misunderstanding??

The full moon was hanging high in the clear, navy blue sky, casting down it's silvery sheen on the emerald green, dew sprinkled grass below. There was no sound except for the barely audible breeze of the foliage of the forest beyond.
Sitting on the top of a small hill beyond the territory was a golden shecat, her eyes looking towards the night sky. The shecat sighed, exhaling her breath into the cool, night air. "Oh, StarClan," she murmured, her aqua eyes filled with grief and anxiety. "Many cats from all the Clans have been dying mysteriously, right under our noses. If the plague goes on like this, we will suffer horribly. What have we done wrong? Can you please provide an explanation?" She sniffed, hoping desperately for an answer. However, a rustle in the bushes told her someone was coming.
The cat turned around, ready for an attack. However, it was just a silver shecat, her lithe, silver body glowing white under the careful watch of the moon. "Why are you awake, Goldenstone?" The silver shecat asked, jumping neatly onto the hill to accompany the other cat.
Goldenstone allowed her hackles to lower before she turned back to the sky. "I could be asking you the same thing."
"Well, a medicine cat's life is pretty busy, you know!" The shecat protested. "Sometimes, I'm too worried to get to sleep."
Goldenstone did a tiny gasp, and turned to the smaller cat sitting with her. "Silverpaw, did you get any prophecies or omens… about all these cats dying? I don't want to hurt my only kit with bad thoughts, but this is important."
Silverpaw's bright face slowly turned grim, and she shook her head. "No, I haven't. I'm sorry."
"I knew it." Goldenstone's face screwed up in disappointment. "This has been going on for many seasons now; healthy cats dropping dead right in front of our eyes, and we haven't even the faintest idea about how it is happening. The Clans will die a slow, terrible death at this rate. Sometimes I think that StarClan is at war with us, and are trying to pick us off, one by one."
Silverpaw turned toward her mother, her green eyes wide with surprise and anger. "Do not say that! StarClan would /never/ go into war with us. If you believe that, then you are a foxheart."
Goldenstone gasped, her daughter's words stinging like a nettle in her throat. She watched as the silver shecat got up and turned around.
Silverpaw was about to run away from the hill, back to the camp, when a shooting star blazed across the sky. She suddenly felt weakened, with thousands of voices screaming in her soul. With a yowl, she stumbled down the hill.
Goldenstone ran to her daughter, bristling. "Silverpaw! Silverpaw, get up!"
Slowly, Silverpaw opened her eyes. "I-I think it was a message from StarClan," she muttered. "They said to me, 'An animal, the complete opposite of our kind, will come and save the Clans, and maybe even give them all a new destiny.'"
Goldenstone helped the still shaky cat up, then blinked in confusion. "But I don't get it," she frowned. "How can a creature we do not know about save the Clans, let alone give them a new destiny?"
"I do not know," Silverpaw admitted, shuffling her black paws. "But, if StarClan has chosen to share this with me, then I will believe them. Whatever this animal is, I will know them when they come."
Little did they know, this creature was one of the creatures they hated most of all, that this creature lived on the edge of the forest, inside a small Twoleg nest.

I bought this book because of the reviews. It was a good decision. This book is well written and a great read
My Review:
I really enjoyed this book. The basic story line was not anything new, but I thought Cynthia D'Alba wrote it really well. I loved Olivia's character. She has every reason to be bitter and harsh with Mitch, but every time those feelings rise up, she steps back to take a look at things from his point of view. I loved that about her and that aspect of her personality really made this book for me.
This book is about two people who were desperately in love, but then they got caught up in circumstances beyond their control and were swept up in actions and events which turned out to be mistakes. Now they are having to learn and recover from those mistakes (both of them.)
One of the things that made this book so good was the huge supporting cast of characters. It seems like the rest of this series is going to work around Olivia's brothers, but I hope we get to see some more of some of the other characters from this book.
*Drake- Olivia's ex-husband who is more like a brother, but he stepped up to help when she found out she was pregnant and so devastated by Mitch's break-up and subsequent marriage that she didn't know how to function.
*Magda- Mitch's 22 yo, tattooed housekeeper...LOVED her and REALLY hoping that we get to see more of her and Drake...there was definitely a certain chemistry between the two of them... and Magda's story is really intriguing and would make for a great romance. *crossing my fingers*
*Mitch's parents- they knew Olivia's secret and kept it for her against their will, but they still offered a great support system for Olivia. I loved that about them.
Those were the characters who really made an impact on the story for me. In the periphery were Olivia's brothers although we didn't see a whole lot of them in this book. It sounds like they all have very unique stories.
Overall this was a fun afternoon's read and I am so glad that I listened to the devil on my shoulder urging me to push that one-push-buy button and made this impulse buy.
