Condition: New
Philadelphia, PA 1999 Hardcover New 0721664237. 1, 220 pages with CD--Interior text is clean, tight, and unmarked. Pages are intact and tight to the spine. From a review in ... "Book News, Inc.": "The 55 chapters of this new edition (the last appeared in 1999) are organized according to the three main steps of a neurologist's everyday diagnosis and treatment: neuroanatomical localization and syndromes, neurodiagnostic tools, and etiological categories of neurological diseases. A table of contents precedes each chapter, and the myriad chapter subdivisions aid searching. The included CD-ROM contains the complete text as well as numerous videotape examples of disorders, interactive clinical exercises keyed to each chapter, and a search engine. Most of the contributors represent US institutions; Goetz is affiliated with the Department of Neurological Sciences at Chicago's Rush University." Read more Show Less

Editorial Reviews

Doody's Review Service
Reviewer: Charles C Wang, MD, MS (University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine)
Description: This book uses a unique organization style to provide readers the most updated, practical clinical information in neurology.
Purpose: The editors attempt to provide a text that parallels the manner in which physicians actually approach neurological patients in everyday practice.
Audience: This book is suitable for different levels of readers, from students and residents to clinical practitioners, including primary care physicians.
Features: It systematically covers a broad range of clinically necessary information from anatomical localization to neurological diagnostic methods to individual neurological diseases. The best feature is a unique organizational style containing the most up-to-date clinical knowledge. There are quite a few fine pictures and algorithms; the printing style is good. Some subjects like myasthenia gravis are underemphasized and some small mistakes have been found.
Assessment: This book is clinically useful, practical, and readable. It has quite a few international authorities as authors. Its organization style is fresh and new to readers. I believe that it will be a good reference book in hospital units, clinics, and in the hands of students and residents.
Journal of the American Medical Association
I congratulate the editors on creating a high-quality, single-volume, multiauthored neurology textbook and accompanying CD-ROM, which represents an excellent value and competes favorably with existing texts. I predict that it will become popular with students, residents, and practitioners and will be published in many future editions.
