Overview

The gold standard of respiratory medicine is back in a thoroughly revised and updated New Edition! Through two successful editions, TEXTBOOK OF RESPIRATORY MEDICINE has detailed the scientific principles of respiratory medicine; its foundation in basic anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathology, and immunology; and its clincial applications. Now a new, third edition offers you the very latest information on this dynamic and demanding field.

The New Edition of Murray, presented in two volumes, is the "standard" reference on the scientific basis of respiratory medicine. Integrating the latest information, the book details the scientific principles of respiratory medicine and its foundations, and provides a rationale and scientific approach to the more specialized clinical material covered in the book. Readers will find up-to-date coverage of the latest developments, new chapters, new methods that are changing the approach and care of patients with respiratory disease.

The book contains black-and-white illustrations.

Editorial Reviews

Kieran J. Nicholson
This is the second edition of a two-volume comprehensive review of respiratory diseases originally published in 1988. The book aims for complete and expert, yet accessible, coverage of the field of respiratory medicine. Although there are several similar texts available, this work provides the best coverage of this medical subspeciality. The book is intended for many levels of readers, ranging from interested students through board-certified practitioners. The authors and contributors are widely recognized authorities on respiratory medicine. The text is broadly divided into three sections: scientific basis, diagnosis, and clinical practice. It is well written, nicely illustrated, and superbly referenced with both classic and current citations. The only omission is the absence of color plates demonstrating pulmonary pathology specimens. Newer areas such as transplantation are expertly covered. This textbook is an extensive and necessary update of the first edition. It is the best general reference work available in the field. This work should be included in any individual or institutional collection of pulmonary texts.
