Vanx and his friends make a great team when faced with the challenge of fighting hordes of the Hoar witches minions to save the fairy folk and their heart tree. They are faced with a lot of different challenges and Vanx uses his heart to decide which course of action he should take. He cares deeply for his friends and Mathias portrays that wonderfully. I havent read the first 3 books in this series, and a little more backstory on the characters and how they came to be together would have been nice, but wasnt necessary to get to know the characters and the story. I really enjoyed this book, just like I have all of the other books by Mathias that I have read. This is a series I will for sure be purchasing. Im excited to read about Vanx and his friends from the beginning. The cover also sets the tone for how epic this story is. Perfectly portrays some of the fights that take place. I would definitely recommend this book, and this author to anyone looking for an awesome fantasy read.

The Legend of the Vanx Malice Book 4: That Frigid Fargin Witch brings us the tale of Vanx Saint Elm and his companions, which include his dog Sir Poopsalot Maximus, as they fight to save the fairy folk and their sacred tree from an evil witch. The characters fit with the story that contains Fairies, Elves, Humans and other magical creatures just not portrayed as they are on most other stories that contain them. That itself is a nice little change. The character’s interaction is quite droll and helps to keep the story going as you move through the tale with them. The book cover fits with what the book is about and shows some of what happens in the books. It is done in a style that does catch my eye and is intriguing. I have read other books by M. R. Mathias and enjoyed them and enjoyed this one just as much. I didn’t find anything I disliked about the book, not even the dogs name was offensive to me. The characters and writing fit will with this falling into the fantasy genre. I would recommend this book based on that it is something different, the characters are colorful and charming. I would not not recommend this book for children but teenager and adults are more of the demographic range I suggest.

That Frigid Fargin Witch is Book Four in the Legend of Vanx Malic series, a series that has kept me enthralled all along with the story and the characters. I experienced with this author what I have experienced with the likes of Christopher Pike, J.K. Rowlings, and J.R.R. Tolkien, that fiver-pitch longing to get to the end of the book, to know what happens next, but there is also the love and connection one immediately develops with certain characters, a connection that can happen only if the characters are well imagined and brilliantly crafted. This adventure combined with fantasy is a beautiful, nonstop ride that brings readers to the ultimate encounter between Vanx and the hoar witch with her hoard of weird creatures. The fairy folk and the magical Heart Tree are in danger of the witch's powers and Vanx and his companions must save them. Will they be up to the tricks of this powerful crone? Again, M. R. Mathias is not disappointing and scores many successes with this installment in the engaging series. The author has a gift for plot and character, and readers can also get ready for a lot of laughter. This is the work of great imagination and the ability to combine humor, wit, and suspense to create an engaging story packed with action and surprises. Highly recommend this one.

Vanx vows to vanquish that frigid, fargin’ Hoar Witch after what she has done to his friends with her mottled mutations. With the help of Chelda and new friend, Foxwise Posythorn, he seeks out an underworld way into her fortress. He never meant for Chelda to get stuck there, but she determines to help the Fae after what the witch did to their queen. Can she help them guard the Heart Tree against the witches strange creatures? Again picking up immediately where the previous book left off, Vanx and his friends set off on the final leg of Vanx’s personal quest. I was relieved to discover that this book had a lot more action in it (and less journey) than the others, and even the dialogue seemed more on point. Vanx also had some personal decisions to ponder and play out, which helped the plot along better than the previous two books also. I was pleased to find that this book made me want to turn pages and see how the characters were going to foil the evil witches plans; it was definitely worth the work up in the previous two installments. Happy to see the direction this series has taken!

I am so engulfed in this series and know the author has created a new evil for Vanx to overcome. This witch is not your Wizard of Oz type of witch. Her and her creatures are on a mission to destroy all that is good. Well done M R Mathias.
