Barnes & Noble - Martin Johnson
Give it up for Jeffrey Osborne. In a pop world where everyone seems to march to the same drum machine, the soul balladeer who gave us '80s pop standards like "On the Wings of Love," "Stay with Me Tonight," and "Only Human" has stayed true to his vision of impassioned R&B. On THAT'S FOR SURE, the veteran crooner's first new pop release in more than a decade, his music delivers a feel-good retro vibe, circa 1988 or so, without feeling dated. While the funky mid-tempo "2nd Time Around" an original, not the Shalamar tune leads off the disc, the bulk of THAT'S FOR SURE is structured around ballads like the title track, "I'll Do My All for Love," and "Can't Find an Easy Way." On these songs, Osborne wraps his velvety-smooth vocals around reflective, adult-contemporary friendly lyrics about love and relationships. Rather than branching out in new directions, Osborne uses this recording to reestablish himself as one of the definitive soul crooners around. To all you Brian McKnight fans just discovering what The Real R&B sounds like, take note.
All Music Guide - Jonathan Widran
The great thing about adult contemporary music is that it provides a format for artists whose place on the pop charts in the '50s, '60s, '70s, and '80s was supplanted by the hip-hop and teenyboppers of the '90s and early '00s. Jeffrey Osborne is one such classic soul voice way past his prime but still cranking out appealing music that can't help but reach emotional depths because his voice is so rich, deep, and powerful. The tunes here are all slickly produced, from the cool and funky ode to love's second chance "2nd Time Around" to the dreamy ballad "That's for Sure." He's never been Barry White, but sexy funk ballads like "Come With Me" make perfect soundtracks to bedroom activities. Yet you can't get around the fact that, as strong as some of these tunes are, they pale next to the closing number, a live rendition of Osborne's first LTD hit "Love Ballad" -- which was also made famous by George Benson. The inclusion of this classic serves to remind new listeners that Osborne had a past; but longtime fans may feel a bit sad that none of his work on That's for Sure can approach his glories of the past.

THE NEW AND IMPROVED JEFFERY OSBORNE

First and foremost I am a big Jeffery Osborne, fan from way back when. On Oct. 1st, 2000, I had the pleasure to see Mr Osborne in a concert at The Universal Amphitheatre. He opened for Gladis Knight. Jeffery was on stage for one and a half hours, non stop. I have never heard vocals from any one sound that good. He sang both old and new songs which made the concert more forfilling for me. He really got the audience involved as he came into the stands and had fans singing with him. He is in top shape body wise. This enabled him to move on the stage with ease and determanition. It did not take much for me. I have the pleasure to own all his music with the exception of the Christmas CD. ''That's For Sure'', is a nice CD. All of the songs have good meanings. Jeffery Osborne voice is stronger than I can ever remember, he takes pride in each and every word. It is as if he is singing to me only. Very good CD, I will recommend anyone who is a Jeffery Osborn fan , should own this Cd. When im on the road, it is just me and Jeffery.''Show Me What You're Work''in With'', Jeffery......
