The furry creature on the cover purports to be a reindeer, but if it was not for the snow and snowflakes and the title of the book, it might be any member of the cervidae family. The book is set up to feature various body parts and to include characteristics as well as tactile reinforcement. To illustrate—"That is not my reindeer. It's ears are too velvety." The brown ears do have a velvet texture but it is a little difficult to feel the difference between the furry body, velvet ears, and hairy tail.
