Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble

His previous 21 laws of leadership were "irrefutable"; his 17 law of teamwork were "indisputable"; and the 15 laws of growth in his new book are "invaluable." But however you describe them, John C. Maxwell's principles for business success win adherents and spark sales.

Stedman Graham

Surprisingly, Maxwell (The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership) views tension as a positive force in one's life, the difference between those who settle for the status quo and those who experience growth and thrive. Growth, Maxwell asserts, is key to achieving success, and here, he provides a realistic roadmap for getting there. In addition to professional development, his wisdom extends into the personal realm, including discussions regarding improving relationships and obtaining wisdom. His laws range from the most basic (having self-awareness) to the more challenging (being consistent in how you pursue goals). By exploring curiosity and how to cultivate it, from believing and adopting a "beginner's mindset" to his suggestion to "partake in the fruit of failure" and "getting over yourself," Maxwell offers invaluable advice. Each chapter closes with helpful tips on how to incorporate these ideas into your life. Maxwell's advice is relevant to even the most successful among us, and his fans will likely delight in this inspiring new book. (Oct.)
Joel Osteen
"My good friend John Maxwell has been a great source of inspiration and encouragement in my life and has motivated millions of people around the world to achieve new heights in their lives as well. In his new book, The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth, John does what he does best; inspiring people to find and unlock their true potential and fulfill their God-given purpose. Regardless of where you are in your life, the principles outlined in this book can help you to forge better relationships, grow spiritually and become all that you were created to be."

    Otstanding, Motivating Book

I have been in the business world more years that I care to admit.
I have followed John Maxwell since the beginning of my career. I’ve read many of his books, including books one and two of the Laws series: The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership and The 17 Indisputable Laws of Teamwork. I have just finished reading the third book, The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth. As in the first two books of the series, the third book is full of wisdom, motivational sayings and true illustrations.
Each chapter discusses one of the fifteen laws, such as: “The Law of Awareness: You Must Know Yourself to Grow Yourself;” “The Law of Reflection: Learning to Pause Allows Growth to Catch Up with You;” and “The Law of Trade-offs: You Have to Give Up to Grow Up.” At the end of each chapter, Maxwell has included questions designed to help the reader realize how the law discussed in that chapter can be applied to their life resulting in personal growth.
Another benefit of this book is the sidebar quotes found on almost every page. Motivational statements such as Phillip Yancey’s “Faith is trusting in advance what will only make sense in reverse;” “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone;” (Neale Donald Walsh) and “”If you want to keep giving, you have to keep growing,” will be added to my collection of motivational statements.
In The Fifteen Invaluable Laws of Growth, as in all the Maxwell books I’ve read, every sentence, paragraph and chapter is written to make the readers think, and the motivational statements to spur them into action.
Last, but definitely not least, Maxwell’s sincere desire to help people be all that God created them to be is evident throughout the book. He relates in the book one particular incident where he needed to make an immediate connection with the group, while at the same time proving to them that he cared. When he walked out on the stage he said, “Hello, my name is John. And I’m your friend.” He still says that today.
I strongly encourage you to purchase this book. The first read-through will give you a great head start on developing your personal growth plan. Subsequent reads will reveal much information you missed and reinforce what you learned the first time. It is a book you will keep and refer back to many times.

    Good book!

Im in buisness. This book was well written; however, there were too much insperational quotes on every page. Some of the quotes i wrote down and others i did not add to my collection. I would have wanted more informarion from the author himself rather than clutter the entire book with quotes. I wanted more of his thoughts and guidance and not so much from others.

I learn a lot from this man and will contunue to read his books. This book was a favorite of mine.

    a Must Have

This book will assist you in jump-starting your personal growth on many levels. Mr. Maxwell starts with the basics to get your mind ready for the "meat" of the momentum in growth. He addresses many factors that may hinder you such as fear of success and just plain old not having the knowledge of how to invest in yourself. I recommend this book to anyone who is stuck in a rut or just needing a change.
Just know that to change anything in your life, the change must begin with you!

    Repackage humanism

Reach for the stars. Work hard. Personal responsibility.. Blah blah, blah. Read this all before. If you want some thing inspirational to read by all means buy this book. But at the end of the day his advice in this book isn't anything original. Perhaps that's the point?
