    A great initial reference

This book is an excelent starting point to reaserch further information. It gives you one painting per artist and gives a brief discription. Quantity is the major factor here. You will be able to get a sample of even some obscure painters. The focus is late 20th century artists. Make sure that you check out the smaller $9.95 edition!
