This book is a guide to self-control over how you eat. Curving your habits with an easy method that simply lets you consume more than 75 delicious meals that keep you healthy and help you lose weight. The control comes in when you have to stay committed to a somewhat staggered but very comprehensible and effective diet routine. It’s simple and very open to any individual out there. With a format like the 5:2 diet you can’t help but lose, for five days you can go about your normal day-to-day eating habits and for two days you eat a quarter of normal. This is “fasting” which has caught on and became a fad in many circles and is prominent in religions across the globe.

5:2 is a must have for dieters new and old. Not to mention the communities on the 5:2 website. It was interesting to learn that not only will this diet help you lose weight and improve your health; it also has detoxifying benefits. The recipes were not only interesting they were easy to prepare. I especially appreciated the alternatives to consider if weight loss is not realized, and the “Dining Out, Substitutes and Calories of Popular Foods.”

The 5:2 Diet is a very well written and clearly expressed book about the SCIENCE behind fasting.  Yes, this diet book’s plan towards weight loss actually has a strong history of scientific evidence backing it.  There are no crazy or bland meal plans at the core of this diet, nor are there any complex and expensive meal plans that one has to waste time and money on.  But if you are interested in this book, you have to realize that there are no crazy claims of amazing weight loss in two weeks that are guaranteed in this book.  The good news is this diet is very effective if you stick to the two nonconsecutive days a week of fasting.    The core method of weight loss in this diet plan is “fasting.”  Provided you eat a very minimal calorie intake during those two days, your body will effectively lose weight as time goes on.  The book provides recipes, the science, and the minor adjustments needed for the fasting days and will not disappoint.  This is a perfect and easy to read book for people who want to lose weight at a steady rate.

The 5:2 Diet Cookbook (Mendocino Press) stresses the value of limited fasting in achieving sustained but healthy weight loss.  Since this diet calls for regular eating five days a week- without food restrictions- and fasting two (inconsecutive) days per week as outlined, it makes for an easy to follow, realistic lifestyle choice.

Although many people do not associate fasting with a diet, this book does a good job of outlining the benefits that fasting can produce for your body. The book supplies recipes and quick foods that will help anyone get desired results. This diet would be beneficial for someone who understands a lifestyle change is too hard but can have self-control for a couple days a week.

This book is a great starting point for those interested in a helpful dietary lifestyle. The writing was easy to read and understand. Some was common sense, but other was stuff I had not thought about. Although change is hard, I feel like the changes proposed in this book were reasonable. The benefits mentioned are definitely desirable.

The 5:2 diet cookbook is perfect for those of us who hate "dieting"! Allowing you to eat your normal diet 5 days a week makes you feel as if you're not dieting at all and once you see the pounds start to shed off you'll be wondering why you didn't try this earlier! I love the fact that the two calorie restricting days are non-consecutive so you if you're having some serious cravings you know you can just eat them the next day! Simple and effective!

This cookbook is an easy way to lose weight. I know it may sound unreal because losing weight is so hard, but this cookbook is a godsend. I love how easy it is to understand. The meals are so yummy and easy to make. With that being said it does require commitment. Stick with it and see the pounds fall off. Best diet cookbook I’ve read.

If you find it hard to stick to diets that require you to put extra restrictions on your daily intake, the 5:2 diet might work for you. By fasting non-consecutive 2 days for every 5 in a week, you can still have your favorite foods, but beware: the book lists the unfortunate side effects you may experience for your first month on your new regime. The book was very detailed about these effects, however, and provided a lot of information to make your diet transition easier to maintain!

Both the concept behind the diet --- eat less two days out of the week while eating normally the rest of the time --- and the recipes are fairly
straightforward.  I wouldn't say it's great, but it's a nice, very practical introduction to the 5:2 diet.  A lot of the info is transferrable to other diets, too.

The 5:2 Diet Cookbook provides a user-friendly plan for weight loss through fasting. Dispelling some common views on the correlation between fasting and weight loss, this book posits a healthy use of fasting by assigning two non-consecutive days of the week to significantly reduced calorie intake (500-600), while resuming normal eating habits on the remaining five. While clear and comprehensive, the scientific proof of weight loss through fasting was only vaguely convincing.

I think I can really get on board with a diet that only asks me to fast two days a week – and lets me live my life the other five. The 5:2 Diet Cookbook gives plenty of tips to prepare for – and succeed at – losing weight through periodic fasting, and it all makes total sense. Plus, the recipes seem easy and sound delicious. Why didn’t anyone think of this before?!

Fasting? No Chance! I love food too much, but I can’t seem to lose weight! Until I heard about the 5:2 Diet. This diet works wonders,
and it’s easy to do. Basically you trade out two days of the week to consume about a quarter of your normal calorie intact. In this
cookbook it spells out easy recipes to follow like, Peanut Butter Oatmeal Balls, Boneless Chicken Wings, and Prosciutto- Wrapped
Chicken (only 202 calories!). The first chapter of the book spells out the history and science behind the diet and why it works,
for instance, studies have shown that fasting lowers cholesterol levels and blood pressure. Not only do I feel healthier,
I look great and have learned to make some great dishes!
