This book is a guide to self-control over how you eat. Curving your habits with an easy method that simply lets you consume more than 75 delicious meals that keep you healthy and help you lose weight. The control comes in when you have to stay committed to a somewhat staggered but very comprehensible and effective diet routine. It’s simple and very open to any individual out there. With a format like the 5:2 diet you can’t help but lose, for five days you can go about your normal day-to-day eating habits and for two days you eat a quarter of normal. This is “fasting” which has caught on and became a fad in many circles and is prominent in religions across the globe.

5:2 is a must have for dieters new and old. Not to mention the communities on the 5:2 website. It was interesting to learn that not only will this diet help you lose weight and improve your health; it also has detoxifying benefits. The recipes were not only interesting they were easy to prepare. I especially appreciated the alternatives to consider if weight loss is not realized, and the “Dining Out, Substitutes and Calories of Popular Foods.”

Book Review The 5:2 Diet Cookbook is absolutely great, considering the essential and handy information about the foods to enjoy on fasting and non-fasting days. In addition, the plan meals and the recipes sound delicious and easy to make in a relatively short time. The 5:2 Diet is very flexible, simple, and easy to follow, without making dramatic changes in one’s food choices or favorite meals. What is important is to keep an eye on calorie count and on how to prepare low- calorie meals, based on helpful tips and useful information provided in the book. A very practical diet, delicious recipes tantalizing your palate, and a plethora of health benefits-that’s what this book has to offer to anyone.

The 5:2 Diet Cookbook (Mendocino Press) stresses the value of limited fasting in achieving sustained but healthy weight loss.  Since this diet calls for regular eating five days a week- without food restrictions- and fasting two (inconsecutive) days per week as outlined, it makes for an easy to follow, realistic lifestyle choice.

The 5:2 Cookbook is an exceptionally inspiring Cookbook for everyone who wishes to begin or turn over a new stone towards a healthy conscious lifestyle. This Cookbook’s sole purpose it to focuses on the concept of ‘Intermittent Fasting’, where just two days you monitor your calorie intake while the rest of the week continuing on with a regular schedule.  This book outlines a fine blueprint of the History dating back to religion, noteworthy scholars with a whole new outlook on the Health benefits as well as the Science of fasting.  This diet program is a very good choice for anyone who wishes to learn, understand and sustain a healthy balanced lifestyle.

The 5:2 Diet is a very well written and clearly expressed book about the SCIENCE behind fasting.  Yes, this diet book’s plan towards weight loss actually has a strong history of scientific evidence backing it.  There are no crazy or bland meal plans at the core of this diet, nor are there any complex and expensive meal plans that one has to waste time and money on.  But if you are interested in this book, you have to realize that there are no crazy claims of amazing weight loss in two weeks that are guaranteed in this book.  The good news is this diet is very effective if you stick to the two nonconsecutive days a week of fasting.    The core method of weight loss in this diet plan is “fasting.”  Provided you eat a very minimal calorie intake during those two days, your body will effectively lose weight as time goes on.  The book provides recipes, the science, and the minor adjustments needed for the fasting days and will not disappoint.  This is a perfect and easy to read book for people who want to lose weight at a steady rate.

Although many people do not associate fasting with a diet, this book does a good job of outlining the benefits that fasting can produce for your body. The book supplies recipes and quick foods that will help anyone get desired results. This diet would be beneficial for someone who understands a lifestyle change is too hard but can have self-control for a couple days a week.

This book is a great starting point for those interested in a helpful dietary lifestyle. The writing was easy to read and understand. Some was common sense, but other was stuff I had not thought about. Although change is hard, I feel like the changes proposed in this book were reasonable. The benefits mentioned are definitely desirable.

Surprisingly easy to follow, with flavorful recipes that seem much more rich than the caloric limitations would suggest. Have to see if it has miraculous results for the waistline, but the recipes themselves are delicious and easy, so it works as a cookbook! Time will tell about the rest, but every little bit helps - and it does sound a bit more sane than cutting out something entirely or eating like a bird for months, only to inevitably backslide. Best of luck!

The five-two diet, aka intermittent fasting, may seem unrealistic to the uninformed outsider. However, this book outlines the basics, tips for success, wholesome recipes, and everything else the aspiring five-two-er needs to lose weight quickly.

I’ve been doing my research on Intermittent Fasting and looked up a source for more information on Amazon and this was the first title that came up. I was pleased with the content of fasting that I received, and structure of the book. The outline of meals to eat throughout the day was great and looks very easy to follow!

Good advice! It takes work to do the 5:2 Diet properly, but if you eat healthy, it can be done. The 5:2 Diet Cookbook: Over 75 Fast Diet Recipes and Meal Plans to Lose Weight with Intermittent Fasting is a smart guide for how to do that, especially on the fast days (not really fasts, but severely reduced calorie days). There are menu guides and suggestions for 30 days of fasts, plus lots of information on how to eat healthy, calorie counts and good hints on how to eat well, which are useful for those who want to plan ahead for the 5:2 Diet.

This diet resembles the Christian fasting period of 2 days/week and it is extremely easy to keep. It doesn't require expensive foods or meal replacements.  You can eat everything you like, taking into account the portion sizes and number of calories. Would help some nice pictures in the recepies pages.

An interesting alternative to fad diets. If you're looking for a sustainable diet to replace the "diet du jour" that leaves you hungry and crabby, the 5:2 diet is worth consideration. This book outlines the diet, which is based on "fasting" (eating 500 calories or less) for two, non-consecutive days and eating normally for five days. While the book is clear that this diet is not for everyone (such as kids, pregnant women and diabetics), it offers a good, sustainable alternative to fad diets.

Fasting isn’t really my thing, so the science and the ideas behind the 5:2 diet doesn’t really work for me. That being said, the cookbook has a lot of good recipes, including the Lemon-Garlic Shrimp and the Sausage and Chicken Jambalaya. The dishes, these especially, are mostly easy to make and taste great.

The 5:2 Diet Cookbook: Over 75 Fast Diet Recipes and Meal Plans to Lose Weight with Intermittent Fasting is a book promotes a sustainable lifestyle choice because it doesn’t really require drastic changes to your routine, expensive food, or meal replacements. The recipes sounds appetizing, although are for a diet. Such as: Breakfast burrito, Tuna and chickpea salad with lemon vinaigrette, Grilled cheese and tomato sandwich; sound incredible does not sound so? I recommend this book for people who really have the will to lose weight because otherwise you don’t have results.

When I first got this book, I was curious about the "fasting" part of it. I have fasted before on my own, but always thought fasting just meant "don't eat anything at all." According to this book I was wrong.  The concept of fasting that this cookbook uses does not mean to not eat at all. It is just about being more conscious about what we eat and eating less on those "fasting" days. The recipes are super easy and fun to make and I am slowly losing weight and getting back to the size I used to be! It is a very fun book to read, I love it. Also, you can buy it at a very reasonable deal at Amazon!

Well...if you find it hard, I mean...very hard, to go on a diet for losing weight, I really think this one is perfect for you. Why? Because you still can enjoy some of your  habbits. Also, if you're into sports, don`t worry, you will still get to exercise with no problem. Count your calories each day, sleep well, follow the diet, and you`ll be great!

I have tried various types of diets over the years and almost all of them have failed. Even though some provided temporary success, I gained the lost weight back pretty quickly. I was frustrated and was looking for something new when I found this book. The book is extremely informative, specially to someone who is new to this diet. It starts off by explaining the history and science behind the 5:2 diet and helps you to make the transition gradually with a lot of handholding and guidance. It outlines Fasting-day meal plans to suffice for a month! Each recipe for fasting days, whether it be for breakfast, snacks, lunch or dinner has been designed keeping the calorie intake and its effects in mind. I tried the Lemon-Caper spaghetti with salmon yesterday and everyone at home loved it! Follow this book to the T and you are sure to steadily kick off those pounds for good!

The only thing to avoid while sticking with the 5:2 diet is to not over-eat and watch your calorie intake on the five days where you can eat whatever you want. For the other two days where you are going to be stricter on your diet, there are some super easy and mouth-watering recipes you can make from this cook book, such as the tuna and chickpea salad with lemon vinaigrette. I also love how there are some small snacks included such as chai smoothies and cinnamon crisps so in case you ever have the munchies, your covered!

I absolutely love this cookbook. I'm busy, and I love eating. Forget the 1-2 Day juice cleanses. You gain the weight back immediately with those things anyway. The 5:2 Diet Cookbook is a great plan. It's fast. You get to eat delicious food, and you only have to limit yourself 2 days a week! I tried to do this on my own anyway before I knew this plan existed, so it's nice to have something to follow in front of me. Great.

If you are looking for something new in a cookbook, this is not the one you want to buy. It is just a basic, common sense cookbook. The recipes are not very interesting and include wheat, sweeteners and other ingredients that some individuals may be trying to avoid. The title is misleading, also, because there is not actually fasting involved, rather, just two days a week where the dieter eats up to, but not over 500 calories. Spend your money on a different book!

The 5:2 Diet Cookbook goes into great detail about how and why this 2 day a week fasting works, as well as including delicious lower calorie foods for your off days, so that you don't get bored and resort to eating all the junk you did before! As with all diets, it comes down to self control and watching what you eat in order for it to work.

The 5:2 diet cookbook is perfect for those of us who hate "dieting"! Allowing you to eat your normal diet 5 days a week makes you feel as if you're not dieting at all and once you see the pounds start to shed off you'll be wondering why you didn't try this earlier! I love the fact that the two calorie restricting days are non-consecutive so you if you're having some serious cravings you know you can just eat them the next day! Simple and effective!
