The story was for the most part enjoyable. What was needed was a good editor. The misuse of many words distracted from the story. The use of cue for queue, taught for taut, thy for thigh are just a few examples. If you can ignore grammar and spelling mistakes you will enjoy the story.

I enjoyed this book & when I finished reading it, I was going to rate it excellent but upon further reflection, I would say that it is only good. While the plot is somewhat predictable & the ending is a bit cliqued, there are some very interesting characters (Kat), good action & enough plot twists to keep you engrossed. I admire the author's imagination in creating the world where this takes place but since it is supposed to be Hell, I wish there had been more theological unity or, at least, some explanation to tie things up. That was, sort of, provided at the end but not very thoroughly or completly. All in all, it was an enjoyable read but certainly not among the "greats."

Only thing stopping me from giving this book 5 stars are some simple editing mistakes and a little dis-jointedness. Will definately follow this author

Entertaining and kept me coming back to see what was going to happen next. Kind of elusive on unity details but nonetheless gets you thinking.

Main character acts more like a petulent teen than a cop.

Overview
Detective Daniel Fox has just met with a grizzly end. The dawn of his afterlife is where our story begins. To redeem his soul and earn a place in Heaven, Daniel must first venture to the 9th Fortress: Lucifer’s primary prison in the heart of hell-fire. There the worst of the worst are contained, and Daniel’s mission is to save one particular soul from its dungeon.
To help him achieve that almighty feat, the detective was given a defender--a samurai warrior called Kat--the most dangerous man who ever lived and the only one qualified, and capable of leading this perilous expedition.
Together, the Kat and Fox encounter ...
