YA A lifesaving resource for theater teachers and acting students, this book provides a refreshing supply of contemporary monologues for men and women from well-known and more obscure scripts. Readers will find comic, serious, and seriocomic monlogues. An index lists them by the age group of the characters. As a book for leisure, readers will find that the wide assortment of characters demonstrates a full range from the delightful to the dramatic. Informative conversations with a few playwrights, including Christopher Durang, provide greater insight into contemporary drama. High-school drama classes will appreciate this fresh material and its authoritative presentation. Joseph Harper, Episcopal High School, Bellaire

I've never ordered a book online before... i was skeptical whether the book would be useful to me. I was so happy when it came and I started reading the monologues!!! The book is even, in that there are as many guy monologues as women monologues, and they will be VERY useful in my audition!!! I definately recommend this book for anyone who's looking for a good audition piece!!!!
