This series is superb for exploring the manners, customs, and historical context of the New Testament. Barclay is easy to understand and very thorough when it comes to explaining the context of the Bible verses. He is a little weak in the gospel volumes when it comes to the virgin birth, but all the other info is top notch! This commentary series is an excellent companion the the John MacArthur New Testament commentaries as MacArthur goes into more detail concerning the actual greek terms. I have both sets of commentaries on my Nook which makes it the ultimate portable Bible Study library!
