Overview

Layers are the building blocks for working in Photoshop. With the correct use of the Layers Tool, you can edit individual components of your images nondestructively to ensure that your end result is a combination of the best parts of your work. Despite how important it is for successful Photoshop work, the Layers Tool is one of the most often misused and misunderstood features within this powerful software program. This book will show you absolutely everything you need to know to work with layers, including how to use masks, blending, modes and layer management. You'll learn professional techniques as you become completely familiar with the power of layers as an organizational, correction, and revision tool that will quickly become an essential part of your overall Photoshop workflow.

Check out the new Edition/ Hopefuly it will be as good as the previous Layers Book!

I pre ordered this book in September 2011 and just picked it up in December. I tried for several days to det the files/ images for the book. The whole experience was extremely frustrating. The author did e mail several times but I could not get into His site to down load the examples.
Today; four days latter every thing seems to be working just fine.
I must say the author was diligent in responding to my e mails.
I will raise my rating after completeing the tutorials in CS5.

I wanted to love this new Layers Book!

I pre ordered this book and waited a long time for it to come in to my BN. I opened the book to the page that tells you the link for 'down loading the tutorial photo'. It does not work very well. I had to register on the authors web site then nothing!!! I emailed the author and he responded with ' you should have gotten an e mail back in order to access the material.' NOT! I have contacted Focal pres etc. NOTHING. I have tried registering with a different e mail add and still nothing!
This book is usless with out the tutorials.
Frustration is making me return this edition of Layers. The Previous Layers book by Matt Koslowski is great.
I reccomend to buy that instead not this one.
