Martin Evening's book is the most comprehensive guide I have read. This is the book if you really want to get into the details of each process within Lightroom. Of the three Lightroom books I have this is the one I go to to understand the process. Another book to consider is "Adobe Lightroom 5 The Missing FAQ" by Victoria Bampton. Victoria Bampton's book is great if you want a reference where you can look up instructions and procedures on any part of the process. Scott Kelby's book is great if you want a step by step tutorial on how to do post processing in Lightroom.
This book is an invaluable guide to what is a complex program: it is comprehensive, well written, filled with both practical tips and thoughtful advice, enhanced by illustrations and an excellent index. Using this book is how I learned to use Lightroom and I still refer to it often. It is an essential resource for Lightroom users at all levels - Adobe should include it with the program!
