The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland

Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Moira McCormick
The first theatrical "Sesame Sreet" release in 13 years centers around little red Elmo, the Muppet beloved of preschoolers everywhere. What happens is, the squeaky-voiced one heads over to Grouchland (home of trashcan dweller Oscar) to sing some songs with his new pal Grizzy the Grouch. Unfortunately, Grouches are obliged to be cooperative, so Grizzy nixes the sing-along. Undeterred, Elmo warbles his own tunes, and eventually, well, we'll leave that to your imagination. The soundtrack features the whole story, narrated by Elmo. It's accompanied by eight songs, several of them featuring big-name guest vocalists. Vanessa Williams warbles the customary, uplifting ...

Vanessa Williams warbles the customary, uplifting R&B/pop confection, "I See a Kingdom," fetchingly embellished with African vocal fillips and airy tin whistle, while Tatyana Ali provides the customary, uplifting R&B/pop ballad, "Precious Wings." Little rockers will get a kick out of Aerosmith's Steven Tyler yelping Oscar's theme, "I Love Trash," while those who only have ears for Muppets will delight in "Welcome to Grouchland," "The Grouch Song," and other numbers performed by Jim Henson's creations. For 30-odd years, just about everything connected with "Sesame Street" has been a can't-miss kid pleaser, and this winsome soundtrack is no exception.
All Music Guide - Heather Phares
The soundtrack to The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland features six songs from the movie, including Vanessa Williams' "I See a Kingdom" and Tatyana Ali's "Precious Wings," as well as "Welcome to Grouchland" and "Take the First Step," performed by Elmo and the Grouchland Ensemble. Four classic Sesame Street songs are also included on the soundtrack, making it a blend of past and present Sesame Street fun.
