Editorial Reviews

Mountain Xpress - Alli Marshall
"Runnel's adventures, told in six parts, take readers to the mystical, imaginary world of the North Pole where, thanks to a magical crystal, "animals can walk and talk just like people. The six stories each combine elements of adventure, danger and problem solving that make them compelling and engaging. There's also a dose of morality (five young polar bear cubs learn responsibility when helping Santa load his sleigh."

Meet the Author

Like Runnel and the polar cubs, Mark R. Leaman lives in a very magical place, not the North Pole but the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. He says Christmas is very magical there, too.The first Runnel story came to him as a dream and the characters soon took on a life of their own and had more adventures. He wrote them down and read the stories to his daughter, Genevieve. She was inspired to sketch the pictures included in this book. They hope you will enjoy these stories and share them with people you love and always keep the magic of Christmas alive.

Hi, this is Mark R. Leaman. I wanted to let you know that this Nook edition includes a new Runnel story that was not included in the print edition, as well as a new illustration from Genevieve and two color "out-take" illustrations. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!

My 5 year-old son saw the cover and wanted this book, so I purchased it and was pleasantly surprised at how delightful the stories are. They are timeless, and don¿t try to modernize Christmas as so many do these days. Michael loved the illustrations, too. I highly recommend this book for young children.
