Meet the Author

Phil Freeman has been an Alaskan motorcycle tour guide since 2000, and owns and operates MotoQuest tours.

Lee Klancher is a respected motorcycle journalist. Since riding a battered CT70 through three miles of log-crusted swamp on a quest for an Eskimo Pie at Whited’s General Store in Brill, Wisconsin (pop. 52 or so), Lee has been bitten by the motorcycle travel bug. Lee’s fascination with two-wheeled travel has taken him to Bolivia’s Amazon jungle, the Australian Outback, the palm-tree-lined beaches of the Dominican Republic, the mountain-ringed two-tracks of Alaska, and most of the backwater portions of the lower 48. Thanks to Escape, Lee got to take his love of new places, criminally poor command of the Spanish language, and his uncanny knack for bringing bad weather to beautiful places to the coast of Brazil. An unrepentant Packer fan and a shameless book junkie, Lee plans to continue pursue his quest for the perfect mini corn dog in the dive bars of the world.

    Absolutely a "Must Have" for any Alaska motorcycle adventure!

    Early this year, I booked a trip with Motoquest across Alaska, but unfortunately this book was scheduled to come out after my trip in the spring. I was excited to see it available on Nook prior to the physical copy and my trip!

    I immediately read the entire book and the numerous detailed tours covering all areas of Alaska. (the sections that pertained to my trip I've re-read several times already)

    The maps are clear and concise and the photographs are amazing. This guide contains every bit of detail you would need to plan a solo trip encapsulating the authors' years of first-hand experience. Based on their advice, I am planning to make several small adjustments to my gear, and as a result I am confident that I will be well prepared. I've also extended my stay to take advantage of the many side trips of which I was not aware, but didn't want to miss.

    Great job on the book - thanks for taking the time to share your extensive knowledge. This guide is absolutely a "must have" for planning any Alaska motorcycle adventure!
