About the Author

Born in South Africa in 1964, JJ Smith grew up in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town where he attended High School in Kenilworth Cape Town. He joined the South African Police in 1983 and from 2005 to 2001 was a member of the Presidential Protection Unit responsible for the protection of former Presidents De Klerk, Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki and held the rank of Captain.
During 2001 he took a departmental transfer from the South African Police Presidential Protection Unit to the Department of Foreign Affairs, State Protocol as Assistant Director and from 2003 worked in the Middle East as security consultant. JJ is currently working part time on his novels.
