Overview

Journalism graduate student Kate McDermott is a good girl who has done everything she can to please her very powerful and domineering father -- a Justice on New York's Supreme Court with hopes for political office.

When she decides to write an article about BDSM in popular culture, she tells herself it's just research and nothing personal for she can't afford to become the target of gossip or scandal. She hopes that the carefully worded agreement she writes up will keep her relationship with the Dominant she will interview strictly professional.

Then 'Master D' - Drake Morgan - walks into the interview and Kate is mortified for not only is he gorgeous, he's the son of her father's best and oldest friend…

Drake Morgan, MD, bass player, philanthropist – Dominant. Known as Master 'D' in Manhattan's BDSM Community, Drake must keep the kinky side of his life secret to protect his very successful career as a neurosurgeon. After a heartbreaking divorce, Drake doesn't do girlfriends, he doesn’t do sleepovers, and he certainly doesn't do breakfast in bed the morning after. He keeps everything in his well-ordered life separate and under his firm control.

Then Kate McDermott crosses his path and screws everything up. Now, nothing is neat and tidy anymore, and no longer under control for Drake is smitten and things are going to get messy…

The Agreement will stay with you long after you read the final page.

BDSM lite is what I'd call this delightful read. Kate won't admit to or really knows what she wants. She opts for BDSM to be the topic for a grad school assignment and begins to study the lifestyle. She meets up with a Domme willing to help her along and find a Dom to work with her - not only for school but also personal curiosity if she so chooses. At the initial meeting, Kate is in shock when Drake walk in and realization hits. Drake is the Dom she's being set up with. He is also a neurosurgean, the son of her father's best friend and a strong supporter of her father's political pursuits. She does what any one of us would...packed up her things and ran out of there like she had an angry mob chasing her. The book then focuses on their D/s relationship - how it came to be, all of the questions Kate has about herself, her attempting to come to terms with the person she is discovering herself to be all while attempting to overcome and avoid various obstacles in their path. This is not your typical BDSM story. There is no focus on S or M. The primary aspect of the agreement between Kate and Drake is D/s with some bondage thrown in. The book was written extremely well. The characters were very likable and relatable despite the wealth and social status. It always amazes me when an author is able to write them as if they are my neighbors. The angst in this book is done beautifully - from the possibility of being "outed" to Kate receiving negative feedback from friends about her interest in the lifestyle. I found myself rooting for Kate and Drake from very early on and looked forward to see if and how they were going to overcome the obstables in their path. I was expecting a cliff since there is a series and was pleasantly surprised not to find one. I look forward to reading more of their journey and would highly recommend this book.

I loved the characters, and S.E. Lund's writing is a joy to read. One of my favorite romance novels. I wish all flowed as nicely as this one does. Highly recommended!

Had to skip over a lot. The heroine got on my nerves. Disappointed with the whole story.

The first 3/4 of this book was about katherine thinking she wanted to try out being a submissive. It really drug out to the point it was getting on my nerves. This book kind of reminded me of fifty shades of grey, just a little though. But it wasnt half  as good. Drake was the dom in this book. But it seemed like 90% of the time he had vanilla sex with katherine. I couldnt stand Katherines so called friend Dawn in this book. To me this book ended without a cliffhanger, but i see theres 2 more books after this one. Im not going to be reading them. This book dragged enough for me.

I thought the first book was good, and was hoping that the characters would mature over the next two books. However, I found that both were insecure and whined way too much. I became very frustrated with the characters.

Unfortunately I really wanted this book to be good, yet I was sorely disappointed. Im not one to leave a book unfinished but this one - I couldn't force myself past halfway. Kate is petty, childish, and a few other choice words. The writing style is unpolished and the tenses change regularly. Drake is the only character with actual likability and depth. This is another poor remake of most of the other BDSM novels. If you don't enjoy well rounded, real characters or well written novels - this is the book for you. If you do - leave it on the shelf. S E Lund has potential but not the polish.

Loved the relationship as it was measured...seemed more realistic from a sex aspect. Two high profile, wealthy individuals was definitely fantasy from a typical socio-econ standpoint...but that is what these romances sre about after all...escape. Well developed plots and characters.

This is a very powerful story with lots of entertainment and information. The author does a great job of writing and keeping up drawn into the story.

Too sexy (in a good way), but also very human.

Enjoyed the characters and Kate's reason for her disguised interest in BDSM but no focus on SM. Interesting story.

The writing and storyline was amazing. I'm not exactly into the Bdsm scene but this book was written well and kept me intrigued.

It takes a lot for me not to finish a book but I couldn't even make it 100 pages. Most of the characters are unlikable. Good thing it was free.
