Overview

Alpha wolf Acksel wakes up one morning in the bed of the one human who was kind to him in school. Now, ten years later, Brynn Mara is snuggled up at his side, smelling like passion and sweet dreams. Even though Acksel has declared that his pack members can mate with humans from now on, he knows that any woman he takes as his mate will have a target on her back. Especially if she’s a fragile human. Deciding it’s better to cut things off than string her along when there’s no hope for a relationship, he leaves without a word and ignores her.

But it doesn’t matter if Acksel acknowledges her or not, because their night of passion has left a permanent reminder of what happens when one drunk wolf forgets protection. Angry, banished wolves from his pack discover Brynn’s secret and decide to use her against Acksel. His worst fears have come true, and the only woman who ever touched his heart is now suffering because of his mistake.

This book contains one ticked off, emotionally damaged alpha, the human woman who can tame him, and a sweet little surprise that no one expected.

Meet the Author

A Midwesterner by birth, R.E. spent much of her childhood rewriting her favorite books to include herself as the main character. Later, she graduated on to writing her own books after "retiring" from her day job as a secretary to become a stay-at-home mom. When not playing with her kids, wrestling her dogs out the door, or cooking dinner for her family, you'll find her typing furiously and growling obscenities to the characters on the screen. Her best-selling series The Wolf's Mate, Wiccan-Were-Bear, The Necklace Chronicles, Hyena Heat, and Ashland Pride are available now.

    Bewildered by the ratings

While certainly not the worst I've read, (I made myself finish it), I am deleting it from my library as soon as I complete this rating.

Awesome!! This is the second book of the Wilde Creek series and it was just amazing. I loved Acksel and Brynn, she was a timid human and he brought out her inner alpha and he is a bad ass alpha and he showed her his softer side and he was still a good alpha they balanced each other well through all the things they had to over come together. Brynn's best friend Mia was funny and fierce I hope she gets a book with her brother Malachi's best friend Lucian and Malachi gets one with Nila their romance's were hinted at and I would love to see them go forward. This book was never boring and I can't wait for the next in the series it's very addicting. R.E. Butler never disappoints she's my favorite author!

    Great series so far

The full gravity of the characters alone make this a excellent read to enjoy. I could put it down by the time both their fears come to soon to be reality and then the realization that it was always ment to be. True romance and action of ruling soft that had me dall in love with the Alphas. I so hope it continues with the next story.

I loved this book!!! In Mate of Her Heart, we met Acksel and learned that he is kind of a jerk, but in The Alpha's Heart we get to know and love him and his arrogant ways. I love how Brynn has Acksel wrapped around her finger from the get go, its fun to watch the big bad alpha be big and bad to everyone but Brynn and with her, he's a big teddy bear. They have a lot of issues to overcome with a human / wolf pairing but together they grow and become better alphas because of it. I also enjoyed Brynn's growth from a somewhat timid human to a fierce and protective alpha. The overall character growth was great and the interactions between Brynn and her best friend Mia are hilarious. I can't wait for the next book to come out!!!!

The Alpha's Heart (Wilde Creek #2) by R. E. Butler

The only woman whom Alpha wolf Acksel Moore ever wanted was a human that wolf law prevented him from claiming.  Now that he is Alpha, he changed the laws to allow wolf-shifters and humans to become mates.  However, he is afraid of how the pack would treat the woman he wants and decides she is better off without him.

Human Brynn Mara has liked wolf Acksel Moore since high school.  She is shocked years later when he winds up on her doorstep drunk.  The night leads to a one-night-stand with an unexpected pregnancy.  Exiled pack kidnap Brynn with the intention to destroy Acksel. His fear of her being harmed  by wolves is brought to fruition.

The Alpha’s Heart is a brilliant romance packed with excitement.  I love that Acksel was progressive enough to change the wolves' rules and bring them into this century.  It was clear by his actions and memory of Brynn that he always loved her.  They fight the odds to be with each other.

The characters are well developed with lots of history.  The supporting characters, including villains, were very believable; making the story an enriching experience.

This is a great book for lovers of paranormal romance.
