Widely considered as Henry James' most perfect work of literature, The Ambassadors was first published to wide critical acclaim in 1903. In the New York Edition preface Henry James proclaimed The Ambassadors as the best of his novels. Critics have agreed that this novel ranks among the very highest in the list of his achievements. In 1998, the Modern Library ranked The Ambassadors 27th on its list of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century.

    Not recommended

I was reading for leisure but could not have understood this book without the Spark notes. The main character's thoughts were all over the place and it was hard to understand his thinking and what was going on in the story. It was difficult to finish.
