Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
This ninth biennial volume of the widely respected "American Woman" series, prepared by the Women's Research and Education Institute, reports statistics about women in the areas of education, health, employment, the military, and the government. (Previous volumes have covered such subjects as women in leadership and women and work.) The contributors, all experts in their respective fields, present the opportunities and challenges facing women between the ages of 25 and 35 for an audience that includes students, scholars, advocates for women's equity, policymakers, and the media. Replete with statistical charts and graphs, the text is equally divided between an essay section and a comprehensive statistical report. Many portions of the statistical charts are credited to the Census Bureau, U.S. Department of Defense, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and Social Security Administration. A brief biography of the women of the 107th Congress concludes the book. The content, the organization, and the graphics are all clear and precise, and the topics are easy to locate, making this a user-friendly resource recommended for all libraries.-R.L.
