Meet the Author

William Anderson is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor residing in Florida. He is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (B.S.), and the University of South Florida Graduate School of Education, Tampa (M.A.). He conducts a private psychotherapy practice in Sarasota, Florida, and is currently training other therapists to provide The Anderson Method in their own practices. He serves Sarasota's community mental health efforts as a clinical volunteer at Genesis Health Center for the uninsured and medically indigent, and is an avid fisherman, cook, and lifelong student.

The Anderson Method is "Alive", so to speak, while being read and implemented. I enjoyed tapping into my own inner resources to be healthier. With time, the Method becomes a normal life style. There is work involved, especially initially. Yet, small "victories" start adding up very quickly, then large satisfactions in many areas of my life were apparent. Being a clinical counselor myself, Bill Anderson lives what he preaches, and has developed and written a weight management program for everyone. Actually, a resource to use for many areas of "life management" as well!

I lost 55 pounds using the Anderson Method and have kept the weight off for over a year now. I thought I was a hopeless case, but my miserable self-image is now a thing of the past. The author gives you the techniques to eat well without relying on will power! Nearly every page contains some zinger that hits home in a positive, profound and often funny way. What are you waiting for? This is the one.

I ordered "The Anderson Method" and read it in one day because I couldn't put it down. I felt like a light bulb went off in my head and I had that elusive "a ha" moment when everything suddenly made sense. William Anderson knows the subject of weight loss well since he conquered his own weight problem and has been successful at keeping it off. His book is easy to read and is not preachy because he understands. He is not one of those professionals who hasn't been in our shoes. It's because he has been in our shoes that he has this enlightenment of what triggers the weight problem and how it can be resolved. Another bonus is that William Anderson is a licensed psychotherapist and behavioral counselor. He shows you how to re-train your thinking into a positive approach and not to accept that you can never lose weight, because you can, every person can. If you have been overweight most of your life like I have and you have resigned yourself to thinking that this is just the way it is, then you have wasted many years like me feeling that you are meant to be overweight and only the luckier ones are skinny and living the good life. This book will tell you to stop the negative thinking, take control of what you really want in life, and fight back. Stop unconscious eating and take part in two of the most important parts of your life - the food you put into your body and the way you think about life. "The Anderson Method" discusses ways to accomplish your goals through your mind and your body. Both are key elements to be successful for the rest of your life. This is not a diet plan where you do it for a while and then go back to your old ways. This is a new way of life; but trust me, this new way is more exciting than the depressed nights sitting in a recliner unconsciously eating to "comfort" bad feelings which were ultimately caused by the food in the first place. Don't live in misery anymore. Stop it and get this book and see that there is hope and that all things are possible. A note to William Anderson: your life's work has touched other people's lives, including mine. It is so refreshing to read a book of this magnitude from someone who has felt the pain of being overweight and felt the joy of success. Your story will be my story of success. For starters, What a Good Book! Certainly easy reading with simple application. (Great Gifts) This concept is so simple and after 45 years of trying to control my weight and/or lose weight it is unbelievable! During this time frame I have probably tried all of the traditional, popular,and fad weight loss ideas out there. In 4 months using the Anderson Method I lost 32 pounds and it was soooooo simple! I cannot believe this simple concept actually works! To get past unbelief to success was a major mile stone in my life and now it is reality. This concept is something that I can live with, for the rest of my life, by using the new techniques that have been introduced to me. The new mind set that has become a habit in every day living and thinking has been the positive approach required for me to develop a long term committment with success. For the first time in my life I have been able to delete in my mind all the usual negative thoughts, memories and rules of weight loss to adapt a new life style. So therefore the word "Diet" is no longer in my vocabulary with life style as a replacement. I have been privilaged to work with William Anderson directly and find it a life changing experience that has improved my self image and my health. I still cannot believe that this concept works and really is easy.

I have been working on losing weight for 9 months now. And it is hard....very hard. Now I can handle the exercise I am doing. Actually ready to add more of it on. Diets are something I can do but not loving. Not too hard to cut out somethings but miss others. Most of all I suck at control. It is so hard to feel that I have to always be in control of everything I do. And my weight loss is showing that I am wearing down. Getting really tired and want to revive myself so I do not lose momentum. So I was happy to read The Anderson Method. This is not a diet book. This is not a book of exercise. This is a book that works as a companion to your weight loss. William Anderson a Licensed Mental Health Counselor shares with us how to reprogram addictive habits. And eating is a necessary habit yet quite addictive at that. William Anderson lost 140 pounds (wow!) and has kept it off for over two decades now. He shares from experience and from what he has learned in years of counseling others. In reading this book I have found ways to gain control over habits and compulsions. What sets up craving. And how to change what we crave. Also ways to adopt new habits and to stop using food for pleasure and comfort which is something I have always done. Now I am better at conscious eating and planning ahead. Stop using DIETS and work at having a lifestyle change and stop buying those goodies that are not good for me. I am learning to use tools for a better self image. It is has been hard for me to see the changes in my body even though everyone else sees them. With the Anderson Method I am working on written goals and self talk. I am also learning aversive conditioning which I think will help me focus on what I am doing better. Many overweight people have tried all other diets, fads and programs only to fail. But using this method of reprogramming their thought process they have won and learned the secret to permanent weight loss.

I've been battling 20-30 pounds for years and have been searching for some answers about why my will power just couldn't assist me to lose those extra pounds, especially since my will is so strong in other areas of my life. This perspective shared by Bill Anderson makes perfect sense to me. It's thought that brings our reality to life....how do I speak to myself? and how do I view myself? and what instruction am I giving to my reality? I am looking forward to learning more about this method and learning how to reprogram my reality. Very thought provoking book with lots of practical techniques to use.....thanks for unravelling the mystery!

"I obtained this book three weeks ago and already it has had a profound effect on the way I eat and feel. It really gets to the core of addictive eating and introduces the concept of undereating in a way that is actually enjoyable. I am ten pounds lighter than I was three weeks ago but more importantly I have discovered a unique program that has redefined the way I look at food. It is not a diet book, it is a sound solution for all those who have struggled and failed with weight issues. I no longer eat because I am tired, bored, happy, sad or whatever excuse I came up with. I might add that I have been on a vacation for the last month and have been out to parties and dinners while using the Anderson Method. I am consciously eating foods that I like but in normal, not supersized amounts. This is not a lot of hype as many diet plans are. It is written in simple straightforward language that for me has been life changing. You gotta get this book!
