Popular songs are often associated with the vocalists that made them famous but few artists actually have the distinction of having a "theme" song along the lines of Bob Hope with "Thanks for the Memories." Even fewer can claim to have two theme songs attached to them and Andy Williams is one of those fortunate stars. After "Moon River" became forever linked to Williams, he recorded a holiday song for his first Christmas album that gave him a yuletide hit and theme song. "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" was the right song at the right time for Williams when he began to perform it on his highly successful NBC Christmas specials that featured the whole Williams clan. Both the song and the television specials were so memorable, it wasn't long before Williams was crowned "Mr. Christmas." Of course having a full album of wonderful holiday songs perfectly performed doesn't hurt either and the Andy Williams Christmas Album was an instant hit when released in 1963 and has since become a traditional classic. Along with "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year," Williams cheerfully celebrates with the spirited medley "Happy Holidays/The Holiday Season" and is at his playful best on the irresistibly raucous "Kay Thompson's Jingle Bells." He also wraps his voice around chestnuts like "White Christmas" and "The Christmas Song" with all the warmth of a favorite blanket, while a soaring version of "O Holy Night" is both enchanting and moving. His tender reading of the lesser-known "Sweet Little Jesus Boy" is as beautiful and serene as a crystal clear winter's night, but it is the instantly catchy opening line of "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" that people remember the most. It is a fitting theme song not only for Andy "Mr.Christmas" Williams, but for the season as well and a sparkling highlight from a classic holiday album.

This was the very first Christmas album I ever owned (on vinyl, of course!). My wife surprised me with this CD copy, and it reminded me of how much I enjoyed it every Christmas season. It still remember how the original album had all the secular songs on one side and all the religious songs on the other side. Along with the Nat King Cole Christmas album, this is probably the best Christmas CD avaliable. Andy Williams is as much a part of Christmas as Santa, and this CD includes two of the most-played songs of the season: "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year," and "Happy Holidays." This CD is timeless, and if you don't already have it, put it at the top of your next Christmas list!
This is my second favorite Christmas album, second only to Perry Como. Andy Williams is a great singer who puts that warm glowing feeling into the holiday season. I remember dancing around the Christmas tree to "Kay Thompson's Jingle Bells"! My dad moans everytime we put this CD on, but he likes it just as much as we do! So I recommend this CD to anyone who loves Christmas music.
This album was first released in 1963, I was born in 1962. My dad purchased this album that year and it has been part of my Christmas for my whole life. I now own the CD and my children listen to it every Christmas as well. It would'nt be Christmas without Andy Williams!
I received this CD in May so I have not listened to it yet, but I love Andy Williams' voice and I like most of his songs so it should be good.
For me, it's not Christmas until I hear Andy Williams sing "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year". I LOVE this CD! A nice selection of songs sung as only Andy Williams can. No one does it better. Enjoy!
This is by far the BEST Christman album ever made!. The whole family loves it. The Most Wonderful Time of the Year is the best song on the album. If you only own one Christmas album, this is the one to have!!! You won't regret it!
Great Arrangements and vocals. This holiday album was the first of many wonderful Andy Williams Christmas albums. His interpretations of the songs and his wide vocal abilities make each of these albums, and particularly this first one, a must for Christmas music. What is Christmas without Andy Williams.
Excellant album, Williams brings the true meaning of christmas, williams is christmas, he makes christmas christmas. I wil also say that my favorites are #1: "Happy Holiday/The Holiday Season", #2: "The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year", #3: Little Drummer Boy". The best time is when your at your X-mas party listening to these wonderful x-mas songs, makes x-mas feel like x-mas, and makes you want x-mas not to ever end.
I grew up listening to this Christmas album so to me this album IS Christmas!
