He convinces his friend that one day he too will be chosen. Shortly after his birth, the angel's parents discover that their son is ill and will not live very long. The family's tremendous sadness and pain is then transformed into love by the angel's glow. After the death of the angel with the golden glow, the angel with the tender heart is born into the same family. This story teaches families who have lost children the importance of savoring every moment of life.

Author Biography: Elissa Al-Chokhachy is a nurse who cares for the terminally ill and their families. She lives in Boxford, Massachusetts.

"There are few books dealing with the death of a child from a cause other than sudden infant death syndrome . . . and few books for siblings of a child who dies. Elissa Al-Chokhachy's new book helps fill a void in children's literature." (Boston Globe)

An angel is chosen to be born as a special child, who will be unable to do what other children do, but who will give his family healing in the brief time he is with them.

This book hit home for us

Our 3 year old son, Kevin, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. This wonderfully written and illustrated book helped make sense of a difficult situation. We read it to him during his final days. He pointed to the pictures and seemed to have the same wisdom as 'the angel with the golden glow.' Thank you Ms. Al-Chokhachy for making us see Kevin for the angel that he is.
