Overview

October of 2008 already saw a Best of Annie Lennox hit the streets in Europe, and in early 2009 those of us Stateside get the Annie Lennox Collection, which boasts enough hit singles to keep the punters happy, as well as a few keen B-sides to make the late-coming collectors to Lennox's work pick this up as well. While ubiquitous hits such as "Walking on Broken Glass" and "Sing" are included here, it's great that the set's compilers thought to add non-full-length selections such as "Love Song for a Vampire" to this mix. Her stellar covers such as the reading of Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade of Pale" and the Freeman-Hughes standard "No More I Love You's" are in the mix as well, making this a very well-rounded collection. [A deluxe edition was also released containing almost twice as many cuts.]

For someone who is looking to some of her best highlights, this is it. It is nice to see "Love Song for a Vampire" it. Was a little disappointed that she didn't include more from Bare but I can't wait to see what comes next.

The first six tracks are flawless. Great vocals and instrumentation. After "Whiter Shade of Pale" however, the album takes a rapid nosedive. If this were an LP, the A-Side would have received a 5-star rating, the B-Side would have received a 1 1/2 or 2 star rating.

Annie Lennox has always been my favorite singer....so it is fantastic to have a collection of all her solo hits.

I love this album. I left my original copy on our boat this summer and immediately purchased another copy when I arrived home. If you buy it, you will not regret it.
