Overview

Alanna is a young werewolf, and her best friend Quinten is a human. They’ve been best friends since they were children, and he desperately wants to be a part of Alanna’s life. Unfortunately, Alanna catches the attention of a century-old werewolf by the name of Roger Mason. Roger becomes hell bent on having Alanna as his own, and when she refuses to be his mate, she and Quinten are both abducted and shipped off to compete in the Arena Wars.

The Arena Wars is a brutal fight to the death with your bare hands that takes place in a reconstructed gladiator-style arena. The fights are headed by Elias, a nine hundred year old vampire. Partners fight to the death with no weapons and no rules. If you refuse to fight, you’re killed on the spot. If you lose a fight, you die. Elias takes a special interest in Alanna, especially in her blood. Can Alanna and Quinten survive the fights long enough to be rescued?

Meet the Author

My name is Samantha. I’m nineteen years old, and I love reading and writing more than anything, and I’d like to think that I’m good at it. My favorite things to write about are Paranormal Romance and Fantasy, but I also like anything with a lot of action, so long as it has a strong heroine that I find relatable. Some of my favorite authors are Tamora Pierce, J.K. Rowling, and a few others.

I’ve been self-publishing books since April of 2012, and so far I have eight books. “The Arena Wars” and its sequels “War of Hearts” and “Consumed by War” are about vampires, werewolves, and gladiator-style fights to the death. “Zombie Island” is a book about surviving the zombie apocalypse. “The Awakening” and its sequel “The Protector” are about vampires at war with Greek gods, with multiple appearances by mythological creatures. “Dark Secrets” and its sequel “Dark Revenge” are about necromancers, werewolves, vampires, fairies, witches, and demons. There’s tons of drama, secrets, and fighting.

    Fantastic!

Oh my gosh this book was marvelously suspenseful and dramatic! It was a little slow to get to a point where the title made sense but it was a great read! Im recommending this to everyone.

The Arena Wars was a fresh, interesting take on werewolves and vampires. The characters were real and believable. None of them were too perfect. The love interest was blind, but the author didn’t beat it to death by mentioning it every chapter, or by treating it like a defect. There was drama and action and romance, and the love was so believable I could practically feel it. The ending was so great and such an amazing cliffhanger that I was practically in tears for the last two chapters. I loved everything about this book, and I can’t wait for the next two parts of the story.

    Great!

This book was AMAZING! It is a lot like the Hunger Games and Twilight mixed together, which are two of my favorite books. The ending was a major surprise and cliffhanger and it makes you exited to read the next. Plus, it was a treat that a book this good was also free!

I was so surprised at how much I really liked this book. I did not expect it to be as good as it was. There are some spelling & punctuation mistakes but they really aren't that bad...and it's nothing so horrible that you can't figure out what the author is saying. I read this book faster than I've read a book in a long time. And as soon as I finished it I had to have the next one. The main character was really likable...that's something that usually ruins books for me...but not this time. AND I can't believe the author is ONLY 19 years old. Good for her. I am now a huge fan of Samantha Hoffman!

A completely refreshing tale of Paranormal Fantasy

This book was an absolute 4 star tale. It deserves a 4.5, but they don't give us that option.
This book was a far cry from the usual vampire and werewolf.mix. It opened new horizons and thoughts of the original vampire and werewolf myths and legends.
The Arena Wars had me almost in tears at one point, smiling in many others, and the author was even descriptive enough to make me twist my face in undisguised disgust. The disgust isn't severe, so you do not need to have any fear over that issue.
I only gave this novel 4 (4.5) stars because while I realized the necessity of introducing characters and allowing readers to get an opinion and understanding of the characters, I felt as if the beginning was a bit too slow and the author should have ended the introductions sooner and begun with the heavier action and adventure at an earlier time.
Overall a book worth your time. It has romance, adventure, danger, and so much more. The ending may take you by surprise but be prepared for anything and everything.

    Must Read

Both this book and "Johnny Doesnt Drink Champaigne" are fantastic my number one favorites. This turned into my top number one that I have ever read, and I am a very active reader. There were very few mistakes, barely noticable though. I finished this book in one day, it was that amazing.

It shows the hard ships between two lovers. But yet, show's that whatever happens , love will never die.

An interesting and new take on a Werewolf-Vampire story. The romancce was a neat bonus. Although, the story was slower than I usually like, the characters are definitely intriging. To top it off, I adored the ending, it was everything I wanted from the very beginning!

Job well done, Samantha Hoffman! I'm looking forward to the sequels!

    Amazing!!!

When I read what this was about, I thought it would be a cheap knockoff of Twilight meets Hunger Games. I can say that this is not the case because this has got to one of my top 5 favorite books, I stayed up until 3:00 a.m. to finish it. You have the perfect, blind human thats secretly in love with you, the deranged werewolf that will do anything to make you his mate, the crazy sister, the two people trying to kill you every other day, and then the 800 year old vampire feeding off of you every other day that all come together to make an amazing book with one of the biggest cliffhanger endings I have ever read.
