Friendship Helping, A Legitimate Niche

We live in a leave-it-to-the-expert age. Few men can tune up the car on Saturday afternoon anymore, even those who are reasonably mechanically inclined. Young parents reject the wisdom of mother and grandmother in regard to child rearing, turning instead to books, magazines, and talk shows in which the experts offer a plethora of often-contradictory advice. The gen eral practitioner gives way to the specialist. And friends helping friends must give way to the credentialed professional--or must we?
