Overview

The Wasteland is a world beyond our own. It is a rough and ragged landscape under a two-moon sky, inhabited by monsters and creatures that could almost pass for human. Into this alternate world unwitting people are brought, from both past and present, for reasons none of them know.

Chloe Mattison goes to sleep, drunk and heartbroken, in Washington, D.C., and wakes up in the Wasteland. Chloe is welcomed by Jack and Kitty, brother and sister from a Wild West frontier town. "You're one of us," they tell her, yet neither Jack nor Kitty, nor any of their companions, know why they were chosen.

Two questions loom large in all of their minds: Why are we here? Is there a way out of this corrupt, demon-filled world? Equal parts The Matrix and The Wizard of Oz, The Arrivals is a page-turning adventure set in a world you will not soon forget.

Editorial Reviews

Ben H. Winters
“THE ARRIVALS is wicked, weird, and fun; Marr’s imaginary world feels vividly, almost unsettlingly, real.”
USA Today
“You’ll want to definitely saddle up for this one.”
Washington Post
“Original and quirky, it’s a fun summer read.”
Locus
“Marr imbues [The Wasteland] with an unconventional spirit that makes everyone—displaced humans, demons, deluded villain, scary critters (some bound to their own elaborate codes of ethics), and frustrated locals—vivid and surprising.”

A story like np other. There is no guessing an outcome om this one. You are transported to another world and time. The story keeps you on the edge and you have no idea where it will lead. I am an avid reader and this book is an absolute treasure.

The idea sounded intriguing, people from different pasts and different times are brought to this place called the wasteland. However we never actually learn anything, nothing about  why they're there.  This mysterious woman mentioned in the book jacket you would think has some sort of main part to play in the plot line; wrong. She shows up, is about as confused as the reader and then story ends.     The antagonist is less than adequately developed and has as much depth as a shallow pool, there's no motive for what he does nor is there really any reason for the people being in the wasteland. If she were to write  another book an make a series of this i would be inclined to buy it in the hopes that she tells us something about this world she created. The book was a quick read and the idea was refreshing, however the plot itself was  flat, confusing, and ended abruptly.

Need more, more and more! Great book. Loved the book but it ended with too much missing background and too many unanswered questions. I will assume there may be a sequel, but you know what that means.
