In this English translation of the original Spanish-language text, artist and teacher Ros i Frigola covers the basics of clays, tools, processes, and glazes as used in contemporary ceramic work. She also addresses contemporary popular techniques, e.g., raku firing and the use of paper clay. Many excellent color photographs show works in progress along with examples of materials and finished products. Particularly interesting is the demonstration of how to throw (on the potter's wheel) a very large jar in two sections. This is fresh new material in the ceramics field; a good selection for all crafts collections.
