Overview

The Art of Brom is the largest, most comprehensive retrospective ever published on the work of this extraordinary dark fantasy artist.

Brom has collected together the very best of his art spanning his 30 year career. Many pieces have never before been published. Brom has written an insightful autobiography sharing his artistic journey from his earliest childhood drawings, his frustrations with commercial art, challenges breaking into the industry, to his years working in games and film, and insights into his latest personal works.

Brom's art is a harmony of extremes: dark and beautiful, haunting and inspiring, majestic and raw. The Art of Brom is equally diverse. Here are images made iconic through his illustrated novels and his work in film and games.

Many of the book's images, including those previously published, have been rescanned from the original artwork, and color-corrected by the artist himself, ensuring meticulous reproduction quality. Furthermore, this collection is designed by Brom allowing him the opportunity to arrange his art in a personal manner, with large full-color images and details to show his brush work.

Meet the Author

At age twenty, Brom began working full-time as a commercial illustrator in Atlanta, Georgia. Three years later he entered the field of fantastic art he'd loved his whole life, making his mark developing and illustrating for TSR's best selling role-playing worlds.

He has since gone on to lend his distinctive vision to all facets of the creative industries, from novels and games, to comics and film. Most recently he's created a series of award winning horror novels that he both writes and illustrates: The Plucker, The Devil's Rose, The Child Thief and Krampus, the Yule Lord.

In 1993 Arnie Fenner, along with his wife Cathy, combined both their personal and professional interests in the fantastic arts to form Spectrum: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art-but that has not been the limit of their celebration of the field. They have written, designed, and edited a series of titles devoted to the works of Frank Frazetta, Jeffrey Jones, Jon Foster, Robert E. McGinnis, John Jude Palencar, Dave Stevens, and many others that have been published by Underwood Books. In addition, Arnie serves as a Senior Art Director for Andrews McMeel Publishing.

John Fleskes is the president and publisher of Flesk Publications. Books he has written, edited and designed include Spectrum Fantastic Art Live 1 and 2, Steve Rude: Artist in Motion, Franklin Booth: Painter with a Pen, James Bama: Personal Works, James Bama Sketchbook, Flesk Prime, Joseph Clement Coll: The Art of Adventure and A Legacy in Line. Fleskes serves on the Advisory Board for "Spectrum: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art.”
