The Art of Egyptian Hieroglyphicsby David Sandison
The Art of Egyptian Hieroglyphics is a spectacular celebration of the art of ancient Egypt as represented in hieroglyphic artifacts and the painting and reliefs that accompanied them. After introductory chapters covering the deciphering of hieroglyphics and the techniques involved, the book features a stunning collection of beautifully reproduced examples of masterpieces of the genre, ranging from the discoveries in the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens to the graphic accounts of everyday life to be found in the lesser-known –but equally intriguing – Valley of the Artisans. A superb evocation of a civilization that continues to fascinate today.
