Good art book for the advanced......

This is a good book for advanced artist to try their hand, but for beginners, it's hard. This book has a very good variety, yes, but I think there should be more characters and places. I'm a big Final Fantasy Fan, si i'm kind of dissapointed to see that only a few of the actualities made it into this book. Overall, though, this is a good and recommended book.

    Good....but...

I'm a great fan of the FF series, though I liked this collection of artworks, I also believe that it could've been better. I was expecting SquareSoft themselves to choose and make this collection, and it would also be cool if Amano added some of his style of artwork to FFIX. I've seen these types of books in Japanese for other games and as well as for animes, and I truely, though sadly, believe this collection was too limited and did not fully express the beauty of the arts within FFIX, which by the way, is a wonderful game.

Good for a first try, but...

This is really the sort of thing that should be produced. There is a feeling that I get, however, that this was produced by a writer of a strategy guide (as in fact it was published by a strategy guide company) who is a first timer, and the emphasis is often placed on those details least important. Do we need, for example, all those pictures of knives and secondary characters where main characters get only a scanty two pages each, both of which are near naked of information original to the book? What ought to have been done? (and after flipping through the Making of FF: The Spirits Within I think there may be hope) Attention should have been paid to those details the player never sees, but could have been pivotal. What designs could have been implemented that weren't? What could the characters have looked like? How about some words from the producers and artists? These sort of things, the things you might normally find in a 'Making of' book are conspicuously absent. But I won't come down completely on one side of the fence, and for this one reason: Where else are you, a FF fan presumably, going to find another book about FFIX? Perhaps in Japanese? I certainly don't know if such a thing exists. Basically, if you are a fan of FF, you won't go too wrong here, but don't expect anything too spectacular.

absolutely spectacular!!! i don't do reviews at all, but i felt i should for this book!!!

This book is one to be honored for its outstandings artwork and should be known as a masterpiece. It simply depicts the characters and scenario for the game into beautiful art!!! It gives a summary of some scenes in the game to go with the pictures. Even if you are not that fond of the game, this book will capture your minds and will lead you to a world of wonder and amazement!!!! Don't take my word for it, see for yourself as you gaze into an adventure of breath-taking illustrations :o)

    Two thumbs way up!

I love this book! It shows all the original drawings and more. Even if you don't like the game get it for the great art work.

    Bonus

Definately the best thing to be brought to the bookshelves since, well, books. However, there are still some elements missing(many of the weapons, monsters, and Eidolons are not included, as well as very few cutscene images), bringing it to just below a 5. However, besides these facts, it is simply wonderful.
