Meet the Author

The spotlight on Rumiko Takahashi's career began in 1978 when she won an honorable mention in Shogakukan's annual New Comic Artist Contest for Those Selfish Aliens. Later that same year, her boy-meets-alien comedy series, Urusei Yatsura, was serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday. This phenomenally successful manga series was adapted into anime format and spawned a TV series and half a dozen theatrical-release movies, all incredibly popular in their own right. Takahashi followed up the success of her debut series with one blockbuster hit after another—Maison Ikkoku ran from 1980 to 1987, Ranma 1/2 from 1987 to 1996, and Inuyasha from 1996 to 2008. Other notable works include Mermaid Saga, Rumic Theater, and One-Pound Gospel. Takahashi won the Shogakukan Manga Award twice in her career, once for Urusei Yatsura in 1981 and the second time for Inuyasha in 2002. A majority of the Takahashi canon has been adapted into other media such as anime, live-action TV series, and film."

    best show ever

Inuyasha is a new thing for me and I have been hooked ever since my first episode. It leaves me wondering what will happen in the next episode. I don't know too much about it but it would be cool if I could learn more about my favorite characters mainly the hottie half demon boy inuyasha.

    Inuyasha!

Oh, Inuyasha RULES! I love his show! I am just barely getting the hang of drawing him and Sesshoumaru, so this book may help. And, as almost everyone else on the reviews has stated previously, Kikyou sucks! I think Inu and Sango are my favorite characters Sango looks sooo cool in her battle clothes!

    Inu-Yasha art

Very good, and very informative. The art is beautiful, especially the manga art. Those who are already fans will enjoy it, and those who aren't fans might well find themselves becoming one.

    You're in for a treat...

If this artbook is anything like the original (released in Japan in 2000) then you're in luck. There's plenty of art you only find on Shonen Sunday released postcards. I like how the book compares the original manga to the anime, although the anime wasn't too far along when they published it so the manga continues on until volume 20 with the Ryuukossei story arc and the anime sketches go through the No Mask episode. Don't worry... it continues on in the NEXT artbook. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the next book to appear in English (the original was published in Japan in 2002).
