Felt and paper seem unlikely materials for jewelry, yet these books instruct on using the mediums to create novelties with just the right touch for every occasion. Felting is an increasingly popular technique that uses wool rovings (unspun wool) or hot water-soaked knitting; the resulting felt can be shaped into any form, e.g., beaded balls, flowers, and ropes. Cooper's (coauthor, Designer Needle Felting) 20 projects include stickpins (for a hat or jacket lapel), a bracelet, and a pair of dangling earrings.

Paper jewelry, meanwhile, requires decorative raw materials (e.g., vellum, handmade paper), which can be made into beads, pendants, and brooches in combination with ordinary metal jewelry findings. In the second volume in this series-following Katherine Duncan Aimone's The Art of Jewelry: Polymer Clay-Le Van (Fabulous Jewelry from Found Objects) shares 35 fun projects, each of which involves reasonably priced materials and can be enjoyed by crafters of any age, by 19 different artists. Both books are recommended for public libraries.
