Every page has something useful and something hilarious

I love this book. It is chock full of information and opinoins and pictures on every page. It covers a plethora of subjects and is funnier than the 'pocket survival' guides.

For the person who has it all

Originally, I bought The Art of Shen Ku as a gift for my Dad. He¿s impossible to buy for, has everything he needs, etc., etc., etc. While I did give him the book for Christmas, I did not give him the one I bought. I started reading it and couldn¿t put it down, so I had to get him another copy! This book is full of fascinating facts and insights. It has information about everything you want to know about, plus some extra stuff it never occurred to you to wonder about! I never knew I needed to know how to make roofs and walls from leaves, but now I know, just in case the need should arise. The book has an excellent reference section for natural remedies. I found this particularly handy as few of the natural remedies you find in stores actually tell you what they¿re good for & I¿ve always wondered. This section, along with the rapid reference to symptoms of various vitamin deficiencies, makes me feel well armed to walk into a health food store and make informed purchases (rather than my usual wandering around aimlessly and picking up random bottles of supplements and wondering what they do). From natural remedies to magic tricks, this book has it all. Acupressure, food storage, knots, self defense, exercise, disease diagnoses through hair and/or facial features, numerology, handwriting analysis - on and on! I highly recommend this very readable, very informative book to everyone, especially to those who have ¿hard to buy for¿ people on their gift lists.

    An Awesome Read!

It was hard for me to put the book down even for this review. Everything you've ever wanted to know is covered in this book. It's the kind of book that you would like to have if you're stranded. Some of the topics included are skin issues, yoga, sickness, foods and dieting, child care, surviving a disaster, and much more. Just check out the book at a local bookstore and I dare you not to purchase it. Check out the following sections: * Find out what SHEN KU actually means -- See page D1 * Skin Problems: "A Travelers's Guide to Beating Skin Problems" -- See page 120 * Yoga: "A Traveler's Conscise Guide to Yoga Positions" -- See pages 213-214 * Colds: "How to Combat Body Colds from the Inside Out" -- See page 14 * Travel: Stay safe and healthy as you travel, and learn what to pack -- See page 5 * Survive a Disaster: Learn what to do in case of tornado, earthquake, hurricane, nuclear bomb, fire, and other disasters. -- See pages 17-18

    One Great Book

This is a really great book. It's differentfrom any other I have ever picked up. What's so great about it is that it combines humor and imagination with health and philosophy. I can tell that the knowledge comes from a wide range of cultures especially because of the animations that the book has. It's amazing how it can go from repairing shoelaces to surviving a natural disaster with a few flips of the pages. It talks about yoga, numerology, nutrition and much, much more. It is guaranteed that anyone can find something that interest them in this book.

The only guide book you need

I'm still trying to figure out how this guy "Zeek" (the other reviewer is right - you SHOULD buy this book just based on the author's name) managed to fit so much into one book. It seems that everytime I pick it up, I discover something new. Its a fantastic book for wanderers, travellers, the curious, knowledge fanatics, and those who are just curious about different aspects of life. While its particularly useful for those of us with a real wanderlust, I've managed to apply it in some mundane ways around the house. So not only is the "philosophy" very intersting and thought provoking, but its a PRACTICAL book as well!!

    A Little of Everything

If I were to ever go on the show Survivor, this book is the one item I would bring. This is definitely a book you want to have in your book collection. When I first received it (a week ago), I just skimmed through the whole thing. I have since gone back to it to look up headache reliefs, yoga positions, and how to interpret dreams. My one criticism of the book is that it comes across as obviously written from the male point of view. I'm sorry, but herbs to increase breast size - please! But all in all, I recommend this book, especially as a x-mas gift for any hard-to-shop-for people on your list!

    Efficent & Informatively Entertaining

I received the book approximately one week ago and I haven't been able put it down since. Recently, before I received the book, I began researching on SAD(Seasonal Affective Disorder). To ensure the book's validity to you, SAD and page 15 'A Traveler's Asian Health Secrets VII' agree. That immediately keep my interest. The martial arts moves and tips on how to deal will bullies & bandits are also helpful. This book made my life more enjoyable. I give it five well deserved stars! Thank you Zeek!

    The Art Of Shen Ku

There is only one word for this book and it is awesome. This book gives you knowledge for every walk of life. It tells you what vitamins to take for certain health conditions such as acne, backache, and even insomnia. If you are looking for natural remedies for almost any condition this is the book. It even gives you tips on how to survive disaster situations, how to build a dehydrator, and even how to tie knots in anyway for everything you need them for. This is by far the best book and it gives you so much information on health needs, entertainment, illnesses, and everything in between. I would say if you any person a hunter, mother, gardener or any other person for that matter this is the book for you.

    The Asian HitchHiker's Guide

I would give this 5 stars for cleverness. 5 stars for usefullness, and 4 stars for implied humor. Almost anything you could possibly want to know (in general terms) about life and travel is in here. It is worth looking at it, just for the pictures.
