The Artie Shaw Story

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Campbell
The Artie Shaw Story is a decent collection that features the majority of the clarinetist/bandleader's most popular songs recorded for RCA/Bluebird in the late '30s and early '40s. The 107 tracks include the standards "Frenesi," "Summit Ridge Drive," "Concerto for Clarinet," and "Begin the Beguine." While the majority of this material is timeless, it may be too much Artie Shaw to digest at once for the curious listener. A better place to start would be the single-disc collection The Very Best of Artie Shaw on RCA.
