Editorial Reviews

New York Times - William Shirer
"Jan Wiener's fascinating, well-documented book tells of the heroic exploits of various Czech men and women, most of whom paid for their resistance with their lives. Above all, it gives a detailed documented account of the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, the most gruesome of the Nazi murderers by Czech resistors parachuted from London, but aided in their task by the Czech underground."
Berkshire Eagle - Sydney Rubin
"Ten of the happiest days of my life began 19 days ago when the KLM airliner touched down at Prague's Ruzyne Airport in a newly liberated Czechoslovakia. The occasion evoked memories of my last landing there on May, 16, 1945, one week after the country had been freed from the Nazi occupation of WWII. This time the liberation was from Communist oppression. Hitler, Stalin and Brezhnev all closed the doors to the outside world and forced the people to live in prison. The doors are open now" JW,1989
