Overview

4. THE AURORA CYCLE is a cycle of ten paintings of Aurora DiSanctis Cole nude, by Ivan Yorke, the artist with whom she lived for eleven happy years, painted during the last months of his life, each one celebrating a year of their life together. These, and a number of pieces of her nude, they had decided to keep private and off the market. Aurora had met Yorke after her husband, Laurence Hardy Cole, accepted tales of her promiscuousness and violently drove her away by raping her in a fit of rage. The tales had been spread mostly by his mother, who hated Aurora’s mother and Aurora. When, after several years, and Yorke’s death, Aurora and Laurence Cole meet again, he begins to admit openly what he had really always known, that he had been lied to, he sets out to win her back, and Aurora realizes that Cole is now a different man. Meanwhile, someone is seriously trying to murder Aurora.
