Overview

At the age of nineteen, Nick Price was forced to flee from his life of petty crime in the East End of London. On the lam, he settled in Bangkok and soon fell in love with Maliwan who gave him love, stability in marriage, two babies and a contentment he'd lacked throughout his wayward childhood.

Eighteen years later, Nick is a wealthy property developer living in a manor house in East Sussex. He's cultivated a bad-boy-turned-good image and dotes on his two kids. Whilst he happily lets the press speculate on the origins of his wealth, no one dares ask what happened to his wife.

During a serial murder investigation, DCI Jack Magee comes across an old photograph of Nick celebrating in a Bangkok bar with his wife and a group of friends. It's not long before Magee realises that the photograph is likely to be the killer's hit list. Confronting Nick yields nothing but misery for DCI Magee, as Nick is not only unwilling to talk about his past but is dispassionate about his old gang as they are eliminated one by one.

Only when Nick is kidnapped, flown up to ten thousand feet in a horribly familiar old airplane and forced to re-enact the tragic events that led to his wife’s death, is he willing to consider there is only one possible solution to the killer’s identity. Not that it makes sense, since he witnessed the man die eighteen years ago.

The Avenging Buddha is Part 1 of the Fourth Cart trilogy.

Meet the Author

I lived in Thailand for ten years. I worked for a while as a fashion model, a television extra, a news presenter for Radio Thailand and a teacher before securing a permanent job in the Bangkok office of an international accounting firm.

In Bangkok, I lived in King Mansion in Sathorn Road, a rather notorious hotel where police and immigration department raids were not uncommon. We even had a murder. Many of the hotel's residents were eccentric; many sought the anonymity only a cheap hotel could offer. It was a fun place to live in; the stories that could be in the coffee shop were quite bizarre and usually outrageous.

Thailand is a place where farang (white caucasions) often encounter romance or passion. It may be the heat, or it may just be that they are relaxed away from their own countries. My novels reflect the bizarre stories I came across whilst living there, along with a liberal dose of romance and passion.
