Christina swore she'd never return to her hometown of Hidden Creek, Georgia again. Her upbringing there could only be described as torture at best. She never asked for the unusual abilities she possesses, but was quite certain they would torment her the rest of her life. After spending years hiding and trying to escape the judgement and abuse of her family and the cruel people of Hidden Creek, she's finally come to terms with her gift. But with her parent's sudden passing, it now falls on Christina to return and take care of everything. With her parents gone, she finally hopes to close this dark chapter of her life and leave Hidden Creek behind for good. That is, until she finds herself mysteriously drawn to the intoxicating gentleman next-door, who seems to share a strange and unusual bond with her.

Michael has spent years in the military and on the police force in Atlanta. After almost losing his life in a brutal betrayal by his crooked partner, he's decided to leave the force and take up residence in sleepy, stress-free Hidden Creek, where he meets Christina, a mysterious, raven-haired beauty with uncanny abilities. He'd always thought of himself as a rational person. He didn't buy into in crazy things like; ghosts, spirits, demons, or other paranormal witchcraft nonsense. But now he must be losing it, as a strange apparition begins appearing at the foot of his bed each night.

I love Jill Sanders. Her romance series are great. When I found out that she was doing a paranormal, I was completely intrigued. As soon as I started reading, I was hooked. There was no putting the book down. Xtina and Mike were individually great, but when they got together, more than sparks were flying. I couldn't figure out what was going to happen in each chapter, which just kept me wanting more. I haven't read a book this quickly in a long time. Then, the end happened. I was completely surprised!! Yet, this just left me wondering how long until the next book comes. I absolutely LOVED this book!!!!!

I enjoyed this book so much that I had to write a review! This book grabs and holds your attention throughout. I love the paranormal suspense and mystery wrapped up with the romance this book has to offer. I only wish the second book was already written! :) My only criticism is a few editing mistakes, but honestly, they are minimal compared to the other hundreds of books I have read on my nook. In case you haven't guessed yet: I highly recommend this book! Money well spent ;)

Christina or Xtina, as she likes to be called now, returned home when her parents died suddenly. She didn't think she would ever go back to her home town. Her parents had been cruel, because of her "gift" she couldn't let people touch her and so she was ridiculed by most of the people in town. On her first night back, she meets Michael. Michael moved to town a year before and has been seeing a ghost every night that he has been there. Now he finds out that Xtina can see her too. Michael is an ex cop and he has some suspicions about the death of Xtina's parents. They are both finding that they have "powers" and that others are able to help them. There is lots of danger surrounding Xtina and some surprises for Michael.

I'm not going to summarize the story here for you. If you want to know what the jist of the book is, read the author's blurb. What I am going to do is tell you why you should or should not read the book. Let me first start with the fact that I rarely give a 5 star rating. Most books typically fall into either a 3 star - it was entertaining, but not the best book ever or 4star-it was a really good book. I reserve 5 stars for books that I find exceptionally well done. To achieve that the book has to have well developed characters that have interactions between them that are reasonable and true to their developed personality traits. It must have a plot that sucks me in and keeps me turning pages that is not only interesting and entertaining, but engrossing as well as believable. Finally the book must leave me thinking about it for days after I finish it. This book does all of that! This is the first foray into the paranormal for this author and I think she hit it out of the park. I usually read the first few chapters and set the book down to think about the characters and let them fully flesh out in my mind, however, with this book I just couldn't put it down and leave it alone. The story is somewhat fast paced and kept you turning pages to see what was happening next. There are several sub-stories woven in to keep you interested in the side characters as well. While this book could easily be a stand alone, I really hope that the author develops it into a series as there were several side characters that could be more fully developed into main characters of their own book. The ending reminded me of Iris Johansen's current trilogy as the books end at what could be considered a beginning. While this author is typically a romantic suspense writer, this paranormal foray definitely has all the elements to keep her current fan base happy as well as opening the door for new fans. I was given a copy of the book in exchange of an honest review and this is the first time that I have ever given a review copy a 5 star rating! I honestly loved the book and recommend that others read it as well.

New paranormal series about of group of people who by the end of the book have special abilities awakened in them. Christina has had abilities her whole life and her bible thumping family abuses her in the name of trying to exercise the demons out of her. Along with being able to see the dead she can also see a person's life history just from touching them. This didn't make for a nice childhood and made it hard for Christina to establish emotional connections to anyone. After the death of her parents she returns home, to a town she never thought she would step back in again. Michael moved to Hidden Creek, Georgia for peace and quite after some traumatic things happened when he was a police officer. Problem is his quite life is interrupted every night by a ghostly apparition. He had been dealing with this for year and imagine his surprise when his new neighbor Christina can also see it. What looks to be a story about two people having to deal with their past along with also accepting each other's abilities turns out to be so much more. There are quite a few secondary characters that are introduced who somehow are all tied together but something we dont fully find out by the end of the book. This was a great setup for the series that still has lost of mysteries left to unveil.
