Overview

One key, one door, one man, one leap.

Alison Wescot inherited the antique store the day her mother died. It was nothing she wanted, but she couldn’t part with it. The antiques inside were all she had left of her mother. She thought she knew every piece in the store, until one day she discovered a box with a key inside, along with a letter from her mother. A key to a door she never knew existed.

Lucas Azure is the leader of the kingdom’s elite guard, a group of men whose sole purpose was to protect their territory and people. The youngest of the king’s four children, he was also the deadliest. The men in his group followed him faithfully, never questioning his orders. When Alison appeared, he knew he had to protect her at all costs.

The day Alison walked through the door, her recurring dream became a reality. The man who always remained a mystery was standing before her. There were dragons flying overhead and a castle in the distance. She was now in the Azure Kingdom.

Reviewed by Maureen Dangarembizi for Readers' Favorite In The Azure Kingdom, Michelle Dare introduces Alison Wescot, a reclusive divorcee who had just lost her mother. Left with no other family, Alison clings to her mother’s memory as best as she can by running the small furniture shop bequeathed to her. By night she meets her dream man in a field of magical azure flowers. Her humdrum life is turned topsy-turvy when two unlikely customers discover a secret compartment in an outrageously expensive piece of furniture. Inside she finds a gold key and a letter from her mother. The contents leave her reeling. The father she thought abandoned her is alive and lives in another realm. When she steps through the magical doorway, she walks right into the man she’s dreamt about for so long. Prince Lucas Azure is everything she ever dreamt about and more. Problem is, he also happens to be her father’s enemy. The Azure Kingdom is a sweet modern fairy tale that reminded me of those long ago nights when I used to gaze reverently at picture books while my imagination flew away to distant lands. The magic of this tale is in true love conquering all things and the fickle key that appears and disappears at will. Though it rarely happens in real life, I do believe everyone in Michelle Dare’s story receives their own form of a happy ending. Who knows where that pesky key is going to land next time? If you’re looking for a happily ever after without too much fuss or sadness, this is the book for you.

I enjoyed this because it was different. The story is told in a first person point of view through Alison. She has no idea of the existence of another realm, but she's soon in for the surprise of her life. She's about to come face to face with the man who keeps popping into her dreams. I really liked the descriptions of the Azure Kingdom because I could perfectly picture it in my head. The flow of the book was good. Though it is a little predictable I was sucked right into the book and anxiously awaiting the next turn of the page. I enjoyed the characters. I liked Alison for having the guts to grab a hold of a new future of the unknown even though it was scary to take the first step. I recommend taking a journey through the magic of the Azure Kingdom.

Treat yourself to The Azure Kingdom and lose yourself in a fantasy world filled with knights, dragons, and damsels fully capable of taking care of themselves. We start with Ali (Allison) dreaming of a knight in a field of blue flowers. Funnily enough, she doesn't think it is real so continues with her day as normal. However, with the help from a lovely old couple, she finds a box and a letter from her late mother. This quite literally opens up a whole new world for her. This is a wonderfully written, fast-paced, romance; with insta-attraction and a slow-building relationship! Perfect. With no editing or grammatical errors that disturbed my reading, the only thing that darkened my horizon is not knowing if Sage and Addi will get it together; or even Reid and Elliott! Alas, I live in hope and until such time as I know, I will most definitely be recommending this book! Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

This book is part of the Skeleton Key Series. Alison’s was given her mother’s antique store when she passed she wasn’t happy to get it but couldn’t let it go either. Then a year after her mother passing she finds a key and a note in a box. The note her mother left talked about another world separate from ours and told her that she was a part of it. That is she decided to take the key and go through the door that she may not be able to come back so to be sure it was what she wanted. Not even a day later Alison packed a back pack and went through the door. There is meets Lucas. Turns out they had been dreaming of each other for years. Things may not be that easy though. They have a connection and Lucas believes what she is saying about being new to his world and how she got there. But there are things that stand in their way. Things Alison didn’t know when she walked through that door, things her mother didn’t tell her in the note. Will Lucas and Alison get a chance to explore what could be between them or will they be torn from each other before getting a chance? I really enjoyed reading this book. I have read one other book in the Skeleton Key Series and loved it as well. Each book in this series is written by a different author and makes it unique in a way. They all involve a skeleton key taking a character to a new and different world. I can’t wait to read more books in this series. I love Michelle Dare and have read several of her other books. The characters in this book are great. There is a bit of an emotional side to this book, lost love and new love. Families’ reunited and family using family for their own motives. I highly recommend this book. I was given this book in return for an honest review.

I haven't read Fantasy Romance in quite a while because it always seem to lack something. Michelle Dare had that something and I thoroughly enjoyed this book!! It is so refreshing to see an author step out of their comfort zone and write another genre. I was hooked immediately and never wanted it to end. Magic happens when present day meets The Azure Kingdom. This story flowed beautifully and had lots of twists that will keep you intrigued and totally sucked in. Alison and Lucas' love is like none other. After reading The Azure Kingdom, you will want your own skeleton key!

I need to say up front, I do not like fantasy books....at all!! BUT, I love Michelle Dare! So, for that reason, I read this book and gave it a chance. Michelle Dare stepped out of her comfort writing zone and I stepped out of my reading comfort zone. I was captivated from the beginning!!! I knew if any author could get me to love a genre that I don't normally like, it would be her! Five stars isn't enough stars!! I'm just hoping each brother and their sister get their own story! Alison inherited an antique store from her mother when she died. She has her living quarters above. She continues to have this recurring dream about a man...in a different realm. She's not really into antiques, but it's all she has left of her mom. She had this one piece of furniture that was priced too high and no one ever looked at it for that reason. Until one day an older couple is interested and Alison is opening the drawers showing them and one drawer is smaller and shouldn't be. There's a hidden compartment and in it is a box, with a key and a letter from her mom that will change her life forever!! Guess that explains why it was overpriced!! Lucas Azure lives in Azure Kingdom and is the leader of the elite guard. He has a dragon and I fell in love with her!! Lucas has brothers and a sister. His father is the King and their mother is deceased. Alison tries the key, per her mother's instructions (she was warned the key likes to disappear and she could be stuck in this other realm, forever) and she winds up in a different realm with castles and dragons AND the man she's been dreaming about for so long!! This book has so many twists and turns, I read a good amount of time with my mouth wide open!! I LOVED everything about this book!! Of course, Michelle Dare has ruined me with this fantasy book...no other could compare to hers!! I'm so happy she stepped outside her writing comfort zone, because this is one amazing book!!!
