Overview

These are true stories, but some names have been changed to protect the author's butt. It would best be described as a humorous collection of life snapshots. It's about growing up in the 1960s and awkward circumstances we found ourselves in. It's about being parents of small children at the turn of the 21st century and living out those TV commercial like situations parents can only hope to survive. The stories are designed to give the reader an emotional boost as they sip their morning coffee, perhaps giggle a little bit, then face the challenging day ahead.

Meet the Author

Steve Barry was the eldest of three sons born to Herbert and Alice Barry. He grew up on the banks of the Vermilion River, three miles south of the city of Vermilion, in northeastern Ohio. Life for the Barry family was centered on keeping the gardens from drying up, canning enough tomatoes and jelly to see us through the winter, and keeping the Barry boys from getting into trouble. At least my parents tried.

During the last year of the Vietnam War, the author enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Hawaii. Paradise wasn't all it was cracked up to be, and after only two and a half years he decided to trade his surfboard in for a snow shovel and returned home. He discovered his wife, Madonna, in a church in Cleveland and settled down not far from Vermilion. Two kids and twenty years later, he is doing what he should have done all along-writing.
