The Baxter Trust [NOOK Book]

Overview

Sexy young Sheila Benton loses a multi-million dollar trust if she's involved in any scandal, so it probably would have been wiser not to do drugs, run around with a married man, and find a dead blackmailer on her kitchen floor. Defending her from a murder charge is a tough first case for attorney Steve Winslow, particularly since her trustee won't pay him, and he can't afford to quit his day job, driving a cab.

Editorial Reviews

Kirkus Reviews
"Truly outrageous legal high jinks overlaying an original plot concept—plus, Winslow is fun to be around."
Phil Thomas
"Hailey has done a fine job of detailing a murder mystery that contains some of the best courtroom dialogue put down in a very long time. His scenes out of court are good, but those taking place in court are superb."
Publishers Weekly
" ...smart, agreeable mystery...The likable Winslow proves a clever, thorough investigator and an entertaining trial lawyer. Hailey brings his plot threads together with finesse."
United Press International
"A winning tale of intrigue with a smash ending."

    Page Turner for sure!

I liked this book from page one. It has a lot of intrigue and comical characters. There was just enough mystery to keep you wondering and trying to figure out "whodunit." The sarcasim and cynicism easily mirrored the real world of crime and justice especially in the political arena. I almost felt like I was reading John Grishom at times. I will definitely purchase more books from this author.

I'm not the kind of person who tells all about the book in a review (like many others do). I will just say. THIS IS A GOOD BOOK WORTHY OF A GOOD REVIEW.

    Fun Characters

First time reading Parnell Hall. This was a fun mystery - the characters were fun and the plot kept you guessing "who done it?"
