Overview

When No Doubt's debut album proved a disappointment to Interscope executives, the label withdrew support from the band and refused to release them from their contract. Ironically, the group's self-produced reply, recorded during several sessions from 1993 to early 1995, turned out to be finer than the debut. The synth and new wave influences of the debut are pushed to the background and replaced by a raw sound inspired more by punk.

I think that the reason that not many people have this cd is because nobody has ever really heard many of the songs on the album but I can assure you all that it is the bomb. I really like this cd because it is good if your having a depressing day or if you are really happy. Well take my word for it and go out and buy it. Thanks! luv ya all!

This cd is by far one of No Doubt's greatest. I love the old skoolness of it and the fact that more of it is punk then their new stuff. I also love Gwen's voice in this cd!

Its agreeably one of their best, if not their best period. I'd recommend this one 10 times over their new one, Rock Steady. You gotta wonder what happenned. Its a shame. Anyway, yes, wonderful cd, you won't be disappointed.

This cd is really great! I enjoy No Doubt's ''old stuff'' a lot more than the new because of its catchy, happy sounding music of ska. Some of the songs are kind of slow and dreary, but the majority of it is great! I absolutely love ''Squeal'', ''Total Hate '95'' and ''Open the Gate''. The brass section is great, the rhythm is excellent, the guitars are awesome, the vocals totally rock (LOVE the trills!) and the beat totally fits with the lyrics! Overall, this album's perfect!

I like the old sounds of it and I love Gwen's voice. She is also my role model. But a few of the songs are a little slow. I love Total Hate 95. it is so energetic. if you don't have this album you should go out and buy it!!

This is, in my opinion, No Doubt's best CD, although they're all superb. This CD would appeal to those who like ska and reggae. It's a wonderful CD. THe whole band does a great job. THe music, the lyrics, everything!

This cd is wonderful. I never heard about it till later 2000, and I bought it instantly. From that point on it has been one of, if not, my most listened to CD. It portrays the sound No Doubt is known for and makes you want more. If you are a fan of Tragic Kingdom or any other No Doubt album, I reccommend this CD. It's great and really worth it!

If you can find this album, buy it. You'll love it. It makes you feel like kind of a snob because it's No Doubt's earlier work and not mainstream at all...which is kind of cool, actually.

I was a fan of No Doubt for years and i knew about this album, but i was hesitant to buy it because i was afraid that it would ruin No Doubt for me. So eventually i just bought it and it is amazing. Some songs take a few listens until they are stuck in your head and you just become attached to them. This album is such a big difference from their later albums because the music is really exaggerated more and it is just in your face. I would definitely recommend this to any No Doubt fan.
