The Beatles Stereo Box Set 4.1 out of 5 based on 0 ratings. 202 reviews.

Like so many people, I know all these songs very well. This version, however, offers an aural experience that is simply astounding. The sound is so sharp and clear -- and all of a sudden Ringo's drumming jumps out and make him sound like one of the top rock drummers of all time. Overall, I'm really glad I got this set.

The CD versions of The Beatles album catalog are long overdue for an overhaul. The discs available up to now haven't benefitted from the almost 20+ years of advancement in remastering since their release. They are absolutely bottom of the line in packaging that verges on generic. They have no bonus tracks or liner notes. And the cherry on top: they're overpriced. So now finally we're getting what The Beatles clearly deserve. Great presentations of each album all the way around. Long overdue, and a reason to celebrate. If you've been waiting to take the plunge on The Beatles on CD, now is the time.

Even someone unfamiliar with audio technology like myself can notice an immediate improvement to The Beatles' catalog with these remasters. Everything is fuller, richer, warmer, and the vocals have much greater presence. This is especially evident on earlier tracks like "Please Please Me" and "From Me to You," and the differences are striking. They aren't perfect, however. I've only listened to these on iPod earbuds, so these problems may be nonexistent on a CD player or different headphones. But on the earbuds at least, some tracks, such as "Lovely Rita" and especially "Paperback Writer," lose some punch due to too much channel separation, while the volume level seems a bit too low, and I found myself having to crank up the iPod's volume almost full blast to compensate. Still, this is definitely the best The Beatles' catalog has ever sounded, and it's highly recommended to trade up your old 1987 releases for these remasters.

The beatles have finally got what they deserved. All their albums remastered perfectly and put together in a nice box. I just bought the set this morning when bestbuy opened. Went home and played Magical mystery tour and A hard days night and found the sound quality to be amazingly clear and smooth. This collection is worth the money. And let me state again the sound quality is unbelivable!!!!!!!

Amazing quality. There are songs in which I hear instruments I didn't realize were used before I bought this set. It is obvious that a tremendous amount of love and time were put into this project, and I think it is perfect. The songs sound brand new. I love it!

This is probably the easiest review ever.......c'mon, it's the Beatles, do we need to say any more? On top of getting the most influential musical group of all time (and all of their music), I got it at a great price on the Barnes & Noble website. If you're even a passing Beatles fan, you'll be very glad to have this in your music collection.

I have been a Beatles fan since 1964 and this will go down in music history as the best ever recordings of this group you will get next to hearing it live in the studio. The overall sound is brillant and fresh. To get a true feeling of what the boys were really all about is to listen to the Mono remasters, no question about it.

Attention Beatles Fans! If you are planning to have The Beatles Stereo Box Set as your Christmas gift, now is the time! Just take it from me. I called Barnes and Noble Bookseller at the Ala Moana Shopping Center last Sunday, which was on September 20, and asked them if they have it in stock. The bad news was it was out of stock. They asked me if they could place my name on the waiting list. I said, Yes! So, last Friday, October 1, they called me and told me the good news that it arrived. I picked it up on Saturday, October 2, and I bought it home. I listened to it and it sounded as like it is brand new and better than the old cds. This is the definitive Christmas gift ever.

Two generations of Beatles fans are thrilled with this box set. There are notes and lyrics that are crisp and clean like never before. There are albums I never owned when I was in the midst of the Beatles popularity and thanks to my son, really enjoy some of the cuts. This is an essential set for any Beatles or music fan.

Want to have a true Beatles experience unlike no other? This is the set to buy. The mono set is also excellent. But the stereo set has so many goodies and packaging extras -- it's a must for any music collection, especially if you're a Beatles fan. Check out MusicRadar for a very detailed review, it's the best I've seen yet. Very comprehensive. But in any event, buy this set, it's fantastic.

This should have happened years ago! This is the best and most played set I have.

I am a long time Beatles fan; going back to 1964, and when I heard this remastered set was soming out, I simply had to have it. I was not disappointed. This is a must have for any Beatles fan.

When the intial Beatles CDs came in 1987,it was just another in a long list of 80's-CD dissapointments. The first four(Please Please Me,With The Beatles,A Hard Day's Night and Beatles For Sale)were wrongly released in only mono sound, the sound quality ranged from shrill and grating to sounding no better than a fresh copy of a LP,and with expection to Sgt. Pepper it featured shoddy packaging and graphics.22 years have passed, and the Fab Four finally given the presention they deserve:the first four finally in true stereo with, along with the rest, excellent remastered sound quality, sounding warm, clean, vibrant and up-front,free of annoying tape hiss, muddiness and tinny, harsh top-end;beautiful full color booklets with rare photos and detailed liner notes;and nice, elegant digipacks with each albums artwork faithfully reproduced.I purchased this thru B&N and service was top-notch.I have fallen in love again with the Beatles music thanks to the folks who made this thing happen.Highly Recomended!

All tracks sound terrific. I'm hearing the first 3 albums in stereo for the first time. 'It Won't Be Long', 'Little Child', 'Please Please Me', 'I Saw Her Standing There' were particularly standout. I found 'Past Masters - Vol 1' very impressive: Check out 'Thank You Girl' and 'I Feel Fine'. On Volume 2, 'Don't Let Me Down' sounds remarkable... play it loudly, it holds up. Additionally, check out 'It's all too Much', and 'Only A Northern Song' on Yellow Sub., they sound better than I've ever heard. On Revolver, 'Tomorrow Never Knows' is exceptional in Stereo (George and Ringo really shine on this track). For what this opinion is worth, mostly all tracks sound superb (to my ears) crossing over at 100Hz (Rotel 1068 Processor; Rotel 1080 DVD player; Rotel 1095 / 200W dedicated per channel Amp; playing through PSB Stratus Gold i towers), with the exception of 'I Want to Hold Your Hand', where the vocals sound a bit tinny at very high volume. Slightly lower volume, still loud, it's just fine. I'm going to run the same setup on an Anthem processor next weekend, and I expect there'll be a stronger low end response. Definitely worth it.

Reserving judgement on the repak until delivered, but would advise others to do their own shopping. Amazon pre-order allocation is now sold out (yup, they got bought up), and just to set the record straight, my price there was $171. Don't believe everything you read/hear. Shop for the price you're willing to pay yourself. B&N at under $175, ain't bad if you can still get it at the member price. Another post says someone couldn't get the price. Find out for yourself. Oh blah di!

Like everyone in the world I have all the albums and the collections, but this one has best sound I have heard for a long time.

The Beatles Remasters are welcomed. The sound is superb, comparing with the originals are 7 to 10. The music is eternal. Unique.

If they counted each boxed set as 13 albums, as they rightly should, The Beatles would have come out on top of the Billboard charts their first week of this set and probably every week thereafter. Also, the stereo and mono boxed sets are listed separately, another disingenuous mistake. It took me a few weeks to open, read and digest the great booklets that come with each CD detailing the recording sessions, what else they were doing at the time of release, the release schedule, great pictures and historical tidbits. Wow! Of course, front and center is the sound as they moved from a 4 track, bounced down system to an 8 track, bounced down system; always growing, always creative, always innovative. These remastered CDs are a great way to preserve the traditions and sounds of the best and most influential musical group ever...The Beatles. Despite the hefty price tag, (I don't think any album should cost more than $9.99) it is worth every penny. I love the way they put the instrumentals on one side and the vocals on the other side due to the physical limitations of the recording process. George Martin, Geoff Emerick and all the Beatles knew how to make music that lives up to its legend. In time, they will be considered the Shakespeares of music. As I listen to Magical Mystery Tour, I am astounded over and over again... Long live the sound of The Beatles.

The remastered albums from the beatles are a great addition to any fan of the fab four. The quality is great and the bonus DVD is pretty neat. The only downside is that the individual CD's are contained in a soft sided case, not the typical hard plastic which limits transportability. We pay a lot of money for the collection and I do not want to damage the sleeves. They should have spent a few extra bucks and put them in a good protective cover.

So I wanted to order this today, but now the member discount no longer applies...even though it is still there on the site, and it applied to so many other folks a week ago. I called customer service and was told sometimes policies change. I am more than slightly ticked off!

Having listened to quite a few of these remastered tracks I can say with very little doubt that The Beatles Remasters are the best thing to happen to the music scene since The Beatles. Every track is clean, crisp, and oh so very clear. I've grown up on these songs and have heard them on just about every format and the quality of whats presented here is on par with the most recent releases from the recording industry today, these could have been recorded last week based on the audio. I could go on and on, and no doubt will, but to put it as plainly as I can, you MUST own these.

The stereo box set offers the entire Beatles catalogue in upgraded remastered sound, packaged in a lovely if somewhat awkward container. Perhaps someone at Apple was nostalgic for the early 80s CD longbox, or they didn't get the memo that MP3's are the preferred format for music now. At any rate, this is an ideal (and somewhat more economical) way to acquire all the Beatles' music, even if it's on a format that is quickly becoming obsolete. The Beatles in stereo has always been a somewhat odd experience. They weren't particularly interested in the technology (spending much more time on the mono mixes of their albums until late in their career), and often the engineers seemed to have not known what to do with 2 channels. There's a lot of hard panning on the early albums, and even later recordings have various quirks. Still, overall the sound quality is superb, and certain albums in particular benefit from this latest remastering ("Revolver" now leaps out of the speakers, while "Pepper's" colorful psychedelic swirls glisten with a new sheen). It appears that some limiting or compression was used, since the recordings overall are "louder" than the previous CD versions. (With the mono box, these techniques were not employed, so in that sense the mono versions sound more of their time). One could argue that a true modern remix of the entire catalog should be undertaken to correct some of the stereo idiosyncrasies, but that's probably about as likely as a Paul/Yoko duets album. It's actually a miracle in itself that this box set was released, considering the labyrinth of legal proceedings that accompany any new Beatles product. In sum, it's nice to finally have the Beatles sounding this good, just a shame they waited until the CD's death spiral to get around to it.

Great remastering. Stay away from B&N gift service though. B&N sent someone else's message with my gift. When contacted by email, they did not respond at all. A wasted few bucks for the gift service.
