The photographs are fabulous. The opening page shows a big suspended over the petals of a flower. The hairs make it look fuzzy and friendly although bees can and do sting when alarmed. Starosta provides an excellent account of bees-how they live, roles in the hive and nature, methods of communication and a quick look at the bee family.
