Overview

Handsome, naive, and loyal, Ambassador Molu Sakeseba blames himself for the recent trouble. He fiercely protected his country's interests, but Washington is not happy with Dictator Motutu, especially for his role in the Tutsi genocide. The State Department's next ambassador to Democratic Republic of the Congo is proof. With praise and not fury, Motutu summons Molu home to replace the ailing foreign minister. Sure he is forgiven, Sakeseba ignores warnings from his friends in America's diplomatic corps and Fatou-Anne Cerusu, the wise Senegalese foreign minister. Kissing his wife and daughters good-bye, the ambassador boards his flight for Abu Dhabi, his first stop to intrigue, danger, and romance. In Kinshasa the hate-filled security chief, Maka Mgonu, and the Dictator's trap await his arrival.

A peculiar State Department assignment policy opens a Pandora¿s box of huge proportion against a background of genocide in the central region of Africa. From Bill Clinton to a paranoid dictator this is a mega tour de force that I recommend to anyone interested in what cultural misunderstandings cost.
