Meet the Author

Stan and Jan Berenstain introduced the first Berenstain Bear books in 1962. Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents work together to write about and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too. Though Stan died in 2005, Jan and Mike continue to create the delightful Bear adventures from their family home in Pennsylvania, in an area that looks much like the sunny dirt road deep in Bear Country.

This is a good story with cute and age-appropriate pictures. However, there are many pages on my Nook Tablet that only have words or pictures, but not both. My daughter is nearly three and has a short attention span when there are no pictures. Also, a "read-to-me" option would have been nice. I do not know why this Easter Berenstain Bears book is not formatted like the other books. If it had been like the others with full page pictures and words together, then I would have given it more stars. The bad format is so distracting that it prevents any kind of meaningful interaction with my daughter about Easter based on this book. Easter is hard to talk about in an age appropriate way. This books does it fairly well. The authors' hearts are in the right place, that much is apparent. It is an important topic, but bad Nook formatting leads to disappointment on my part and my daughter walking away part of the way through.

My Grandsons love all the bear books and this one is special just for Easter, great to add to their collection.

My daughter loves the Berenstain Bears collection of books so I purchased this one when I was looking for a book that could explain the real meaning behind Easter. This book is a little too wordy for a three year old. My daughter asked me to stop reading it which is completely out of her character, she loves story time. We will try it again next year. I also want to add that this book is not formatted correctly for the nook so if you purchase it get the actual book and don't bother with the nook.

You couldn't ask for a better way to tell the story for a child. They totally understood what was going on and if they had questions, I answered them - no problem.

A simple way to a child's understanding of a very spiritual holiday.

Sweet Easter Story! It was springtime in Bear Country, and with Easter coming soon the bears were consumed with thoughts of candy. Their Sunday school teacher even expressed her favorite kind of candy, black jelly beans. One of the other Sunday school classes was putting on a play called The Easter Story, and the bears were excited to see it. The bear children were attentive as the story of Easter was acted out on the stage, with props and costumes representative of the time when Jesus was performing miracles and teaching his followers. Some people became angry with Jesus, and accused him of becoming too powerful. The story continues with Jesus' arrest, crucifixion and resurrection. Jan & Mike Berenstain have created another wonderful children's book in the Berenstain Bears tradition. The illustrations are colorful and true to the subject matter, and The Easter Story is very well told and appropriate for younger children. This is a book that can be used each year when Easter approaches, and passed down through the generations. I found the book to be well done and enjoyable, a story that children can understand and remember. I recommend this book for families with young children. This edition of the book also contains a sheet of stickers for children to use with their Easter projects. Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from Zondervan in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own, and no monetary compensation was received for this review.
