Meet the Author

Stan and Jan Berenstain were both born in 1923 in Philadelphia.  They didn't know each other as children, but met later at school, at the Philadelphia College of Art.  They liked each other right away, and found out that the both enjoyed the same kinds of books, plays, music and art.  During World War II, Stan was a medical assistant in the Army, and Jan worked in an airplane factory.  When the war was over, they got married and began to work together as artists and writers, primarily drawing cartoons for popular magazines.  After having their two sons Leo and Michael, the Berenstains decided to write some funny children's books that their children and other children could read and enjoy.  Their first published children's book was called The Big Honey Hunt .  It was about a family of bears, who later became known as the "Berenstain Bears".

Over 50 children's books later, Stan and Jan still plan all of their books together -- both write the stories, and both write the pictures.  They live outside of Philadelphia in the country.

    not worth it

the music it's nagging; the quality of the person reading the book it's bad at best. I wish that rather than playing bits of music (very anoying music) they would had leave the person reading by itself. They PACKED A LOT of words into this little window to save another screen shot, then the words are very hard to read it without zooming in/out the window...very bad design and very bad way of accomodating the wording...do not buy this book unless you have too!

Messy Room/Bears Captivates My 2 yr old's attention

Having grown up reading the Berenstain Bears, I didn't hesitate to add this and a few others to my 2 yr old daughters reading list. Most of the time, we read together, but when she wants to 'read' on her own, its nice to have the 'Read to Me' and 'Read and Record' options that come with the Nook ebook versions. The Messy Room, and a few other Berenstain Bear books never fail to captivate her attention. She has a few of the other Berenstain Bears series in App format, and I have to say, we both enjoy those as well due to its interactivity. For that reason, lack of interactivity of the ebooks, I only give the Nook ebook version a 4 star. Give it to me/us in App format, and I might give it a 5 star rating.

Highly Recommended - a must read!

If you have children who loves to read books and especially if the story in that book can pertain to their lifes then the Berenstain Bears are the books for them! My oldest son (8) loves reading books and when it comes to the Berenstain Bears he absolutely enjoys it, he keeps telling me he wants more books from them! He enjoys reading this book to his little brother and trying to get him to understand that he likes his room to be clean. Each Berenstain bear book has a topic that all children either goes through or in one way or another is related to them, and as a parent seeing my boys learning from a book is a joy since I brought this book they have maintained there room a bit more clean then before and everytime I tell them to clean their room they always read this book right after and they enjoy it even more as I purchased it for the nook "read to me" feature!! So I strongly recommend this book to any young reader!

My 4 year old loves Berenstain Bears books!

My son loves all of their books! I originally purchased this one to show him how his lack of picking up his own toys can get overwhelming after awhile, it must have done the trick, Because his floor is spotless!
